Have just advertised my 350i, just to see what happens. Would like to upgrade to a 390 or 400. What are the prices for a sorted one, don't have to be concours.

I think that a 390 or a 400 will not give you the kick
where you looking for, go for the wildest meanest biggest wedges there is the koncker killer SEAC.

IMHO that's good going for concours cars. I'd say £5 & £6 resp. Have a look at www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=38295&s=5 and www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=37044&s=5
Wedges really are this year's sports car bargain.

how does the 390se compare to the 350i, as i want to either go back to a wedge or a chimaera from my present S2 which is now sorted and has a new mot.

Had a lift back from Goodwood yesterday in Jasons (jaytee1) very rude and sorted 390SE. I think you can tell the difference between the hand built 390's (NCKs?) and the mass built rover 4ltr engines. Worth getting one for that alone IMHO .
Had to smile, jason recently got the car and thought it a little firm on the new AVO's. By feck compared to the V8S it rode like a limosine . But without the usual wedge trait of being a bit wallowy at the back end.

Only the first ones which look like a 350 exept for the spoiler under the rear bumper. The later ones look like a 400 se but the front still looks more like a 350.
