From this month's Test Drive...

"A careful right foot is good: the Sagaris' long-travel yet precise throttle is a great form of traction control. Get it wrong and you'd better sort out your act fast. A shame then, that the ECU restraining panel kept falling out, jamming the throttle open. Unless TVR wants to end up in court, it had better bolt the thing in place, instead of the velcro arrangement."

I think it's safe to say James Mills isn't wearing the TVR blinkers.

But nobody reads Test Drive anyway do they? Better to post this in the TVR forum, you'll get a......better response.

That's not really a slating is it? I think that he is simply highlighting a problem he had but he only really said that it is very powerful and you need to be a bit careful unless there is more to the article which you didn't quote.

Given that the final sentence in the road test was "Less than ideal" I think I can safely say he didn't rate it.

That wasn't in the OP though. Do you have the full story?

If I owned a TVR T-car, the long travel loud pedal is the first thing I'd junk, total pain in the arse imo.

For 50+k things shouldn't fall off. TVR need to try harder.

Not sure what is wrong with the long throttle though - it works just fine.

Not online. Only in the magazine that just landed on my desk. It's not a very flattering piece, complaining about 'ragged handling' and the fact that it doesn't feel as fast as it should be. James is an honest guy. Maybe he's just been landed a lemon.

Seeing as Test Drive advertises itself along the lines of 'mpg more important than mph?', I think it's safe to say that this will do minimal damage to TVR's target audience...

Not good that a test car developed a fault like that though. You'd have thought that the factory might have had a really good look over the car before handing it over to the journos.

Very true.

Would be nice to see the company turn the corner quality wise. Will probably be a long and expensive road.

If its the factory demo car he drove, then a few bits fell off it when Fifth Gear had it. If bits fall off and the car keeps going, I say, chuck 'em away in the interests of weight saving.

I prefer a longer throttle travel - easier to control imho. That said I dont like longer travel brakes - i prefer a firm pedal with a shorter travel.

I read Evo's review today - while not 100%, it must be said thet they are generally positive toward the car.

I drove Dream Machines car recently & would agree with Evos general comments...so I just need to save my pocket money to get me One

I agree about minimal damage to the target audience. Plus all the 2.4 children Picasso driving types who read this mag will still think "I don't care, I still want one" when they see a TVR. These people don't listen, clearly exhibited by the fact that so many stil plan to vote Labour even though they have been told it is going to hurt their pockets dearly. (OK, so the opposition could be more credible, but they aren't that bad).

Slight Hijack,

First the Sagaris I think looks and sounds amazing and I hope it does very well, it deserves to.

you know it's funny that from time to time (and sometimes more regularly) you get a comment or a report or review from someone relating to a particular product (cars, cameras, whatever) which is comepletely at odds with the general concensus. Is anyone else as paranoid as me and thinks that all large companies have a department of "misinformation and negative reviews" who's job it is to go on internet forums and pay off reviewers to slag off a competing product which is doing well and which they feel might endanger sales of their own? Come on it must happen! All you chaps on PH working for "the other side" own up!

several people (pro's) who have driven (and who help sell them in some instances) say that in many ways it the best tiv ever!

can be driven by joe plonker quite safely but will also shift on demand...in a fast road way.

BUT...

it was supposed to be a GT3 track challenger. an all out, no holds barred track car that could be used on the road. and apparently it isn't. the committee's have gotten hold of it and rounded it off, softened it off and calmed it down to be a flagship road model. the vents have gone, handlings gone and so has the lightweight racer image.

this may or may not be a good thing. but surely two versions would have been good. standard pack track car for die hards and a road going version with softer handling and trim options. similar to what Noble have done.

we'll have to wait and see, but i can tell you now that after market handing packs are well underway already

so track guys with their names down need not dispair, just get you cheque books out...again!

Qualified to say...not drven it myself! Yet!

Isnt that what they have done though? There is a stripped out, open vented track version and a soft one for the rest of us.
