Still not found a car to replace the 595 and still looking.
I can't make my mind up and for some reason the £4-9k selection around these parts just seems a bit spartan. Nothing to take my fancy.
I am still holding out for something petrol and hopefully estate-ish. So whilst I am here, late 2000's BMW 325-330i's any good?
As for this particular thread, a used dealer near me has a lovely Volvo V40 D3 R-Design for sale. Seems to have everything; heated seats, sat nav, the cool TFT instruments, HID lamps etc. The seats look sumptuous and I have had a Volvo in the past, most comfortable thing I have ever sat in.
I think its worth a look. Its on for £8.5k ish
Only issues are :
1) its a diesel
2) its a manual
3) its got 78k miles.
Mileage not so worried about. Its a 63 plate so about 5 years old so its been driven properly. Hopefully the DPF is ok, though does anyone know how long these can go before they do need replacement? (I am thinking due to ashing here). Going off the engine capacity on AT it looks like its the older 5-cylinder D3 which is good. I know the clutch on these has weirdly long travel, high bite and soggy action, so I'll have to test drive to see what its like.
Any other issues? Should I be considering diesel (min 12,000 miles a year, likely 15,000).
ETA: THis is the car: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
ETA2 : this place has some pretty decent motors to look at:

Surely for < £7k that isn't bad right?
