A new kid on the block.
Discussion
I thought it was time I joined up and said hello as I have been mooching around and reading your forum for some weeks now and managing to extract potentially valuable information from everyones posts. So... Hello to ALL on the S forum and thanx for the info so far.. Right, down to the reason for my mooching around in the shadows. There is no other way to put it than I think I have 'The Bug' yeah thats right the 'S' bug. I am hoping that in the near future I am gonna be looking to purchase a nice S (that is when the bathroom is finished to my girlfriends satisfaction and I have bolted back together and sold my MGB and found a suitable home for the old Beemer..)
So the question (and the original reason for this post) is..
Are there any real differences (mechanically) between the S2 and S3 I know about the small changes in the body and the different dash but are there any real differences in the dirty bits underneath and is either one better than the other?
The reason I am asking is I find myself leaning toward looking for an S2 simply because I prefer the dash and lets face it thats the bit i will see from the driving seat..
Well thats almost the end of my first PH post, except to say I appreciate any advice given and once more Hello to all..
Thanx in advance, CJ.

Firstly welcome to the S forum you sont regret it and get ready to need botox injections to get rid of the grin
Get yourself a car before August and come to the S Series meet at Silverstone????
As far as I am aware there are no big dfferences mecahnically, but I am sure some of the more experienced guys can show some differences?? I had an S2 and it was great, if you are not super tall and prefer the S2 dash then the S2 is for you I would say!
Enjoy
Mike

Don't ignore the S1, they are just as quick when sorted and most have now got S3 rear suspension.
Whichever you choose the first priority is get the car on a ramp and check the chassis.
The near perfect low mileage example will be at least 14 years old and underneath could be very dodgy and expensive to put right.
Go to S club heaven and see the worlds largest collection of Ss on one afternoon, and be prepared to be smitten.
Happy hunting and be choosy
