Hi,

My sons taken a shine to my GW-M5610-1ER.

His birthday is in July, was thinking F-91W. Should be robust enough?

Can he tell the time on an analogue watch/clock?

I thought about a digital watch for my 5 yr old son too but decided to get analogue to make sure he learned to tell the time properly prior to a digital and, in his eyes most important, waterproof watch

The straps don't seem very substantial on the F-91W, not sure how well they will hold up. (Mine arrived yesterday and I'm shocked how small it is)

Hi, not fully but he is getting there on analogue...

It's worth buying an analogue then? Any recommendations?

They aren't. Slap it on a NATO.

I agree with Atlas get them a analogue watch first. There was an article in the paper the other week about how school exam rooms where having to replace analogue clocks for digital as kids couldn’t read the time anymore.

Quite pathetic really.

Five years old?
This should provide the necessary education.

Are NATO's all the same size?

5 year old? A bit early really but surely you have to get this...

Here you jolly well go.

It will help him learn how to tell the time as well.

My 5 year old has one of these. There are few screens that show analogue faces plus it does a load of other stuff to keep him busy.

Too expensive for a five year old.

My strap has held on now for 3 years. Rather impressed to be honest.

And you're right, it is tiny.

Mine's lasted 8 years just fine, and that includes skiing, swimming, snorkelling and sleeping. It only comes off on the odd weekend when I put one of my nice watches on, or for cleaning every couple of days when in the shower. It also gets left behind on business trips, as in the US wearing a nice watch is still regarded as a good thing to do in a business context.

Still on the original battery too.

The little Casio is amongst my favourite possessions - I've become pretty attached to it!

Well, yes, but then as this is an internet discussion forum, all comments are opinions - no?

I do think it is too much money to spend on a watch for a 5 year old.

Similarly, the poster thinking of spending £2k - was it- on a watch for an 8 year old? Far too much money.

The best of both worlds

Analogue and digital - plus, with it being a Casio, it should stand up well to the use&abuse that young boys are likely to inflict on it smile
