Hello

Has anyone fitted the above to a second gen BMW X5? I am likely to buy a 2008 or 09 plate and therefore Airplay won't be a feature. Having got an Iphone X does anyone know they best way of streaming music to the car?

Thank you.

I presume you mean CarPlay, not Airplay?

Would mean a new headunit for the stereo I guess. Bluetooth audio (A2DP) would be a better bet - and might be something that a 2008 BMW would already handle (if it had the newer iDrive at the time)

There are several aftermarket stereo's that support Apple CarPlay, or alternatively you can just stream music over Bluetooth. Both work well in my experience, but Carplay gives you access to some Apple apps, such as maps. When iOS 12 is released in the autumn, Google Maps and Waze will also be supported through Apple CarPlay

I would be looking at aftermarket CarPlay solutions tbh. I have an iPhone X and have been using an Astra with CarPlay (wired) as a rental for a couple of weeks now and I now wouldn’t be without it, it works so well across the board and far superior than traditional BT Audio setups and OEM interfaces

Thanks. Perhaps Bluetooth might be the way forward
