Hi Guys... I haven't been on here for a while so thought i would post some pics of my R32.
I am an English guy currently living in South Australia (been here for 3 years) The choice of pre-owned European stuff over here is limited - The choice of well maintained and correctly serviced European stuff is even more limited.

But none the less. I managed to find this lovely one owner R32 last week

I understand that there were only 200 or so imported into Australia. Only 6 were in Red, Only 2 of those were 3 door and only one of them (this car) was manual. Owner purchased new in 2008 from a dealer on the Gold Coast, then moved to Tasmania and took the car with him. Then he moved back to the mainland (Adelaide) and bought the car back with him.

She has traveled 133.000km (82.000miles) and when my kids sat in the back seat during my test drive. The owner said that it was the 1st time the rear seats had ever been used.

I have put my plate on her, given her a lot of attention (from a cleaning perspective). Ordered some proper tailored overmats, some matte Aluminium door mirror housings and 12mm hubcentric spacers all round. And i have performed the modification to the Exhaust valve -She sounds so good!!

I run a Corolla Hybrid as a daily (Toyota Auris in the UK). Which is bland. But i can only choose a Hybrid through work - As i work for a 'beyond carbon neutral' company. I cant complain though - It gets changed every two years (i will go for a new Camry Hybrid next) i dont pay any servicing, parts, insurance or fuel. And she swallows my mountain bike in the back (with the rear seats down) and the Kayak goes on the roof with no issues.

Before the R32 i had this 2008 Eos for the Summer (our summer here is December to February) but with Regular 40+ degree days I had the roof up most of the time with AC on. It's a 2.0litre petrol Turbo (as per MkV Golf GTI). And was fitted with the DSG gearbox - Which i found to be slightly dimwitted. But for cruising along the coast it was ok.

And before the Eos i had a 2008 MkV Golf GTI - took me bloody ages to find a 3 door, in silver, with the Interlargos trim, manual gearbox AND a proper service history.
Sadly they all came with only the 17" wheel option over here..

Good taste in dubs, id have chosen both your GTI and R32 for the reasons you have given.

even trying to find a red 3door manual mk4 or mk5 r32 is hardwork in the UK

how did you find the Eos? been tempted to get a 3.2 for the VR6+roof down aspect as they seem quite cheap an the folding hardtop is more appealing to me than a TT cabriolet

Thanks...

I found the Eos quite nice... With some larger wheels i would have been very happy with the looks.
I dont think the 3.2 was available over here - I looked and couldn't find anything for sale anywhere in Australia.

If it sounds anything like the R32 (or could be made to sound like the R32) then that would be a massive tick - Driving with the roof down and listening to that VR motor making its noise!!
The roof was fine - They are unique (i think) in having a full glass tilt and slide sunroof, as well as the coupe/convertible configuration - And i have always been a fan of pillar-less coupes. So driving with roof up and windows down is also nice.... Obviously they are a bit wobbly and heavy. But i didn't buy mine to loone around in.

Nice r32 mate. Have you thought about changing the head unit for something more modern? I’ve got an alpine unit in mine and it makes driving so much better with Bluetooth streaming music from your phone. The sound quality is improved as well from standard.

Funnily enough - I have been looking into the OE look Android units.
I understand that these days the EONON units are very good - I bought the EOS with an older version fitted and it was pretty good.

So i am thinking about this model and adding the OBD2 Data interface and maybe their integrated dash cam.

Looks very nice. Have a few spare NOS sales brochure for the MK5 R32 if you want one sticking in the post? Drop me a PM if you do.
