So, with classic 911 prices going up purely to balance out VW's emissions fine and TVR prices making fibreglass more expensive lb for lb than saffron, what cars do we think are next on the list?

I've seen some ridiculous prices for Vauxhall Novas and 90's Fords....

If you had say up to £90k to spend.....what would make your garage for a bit of a speculative investment?

I'm thinking the S2 will start to go up rapidly before long, better looking than it's S1 counterpart and with the toyota engine making it more reliable..

Buy the tidiest sub-£10k Jag XJS V12 HE you can find. Guarantee they'll go up in the next few years.

I know that's a bit low-ball for your budget though, so i'd be getting a Cayman GT4 at that money.

Griffith 500 is a good bet too, though they're already silly prices.

maybe in 100 years...there are far, far, far, far too many around now to command serious price increases any time soon.

Jags don't seem to have the love for them like they used to, the e-type seems to be a bit of a one off in my eyes.

Thats what they said about the XR2. They were £500 15years ago.

My bets would be the R32 & R33 Skylines, classic imprezas and evo 6s.

80s 90s Mercedes.

Anything really, A124 Cabs, C123 CE coupes, R107 SL (always a good bet), wildcard is the C107 SLC simply as the SL are getting too pricey and not everyone wants a convertible. 560 SECs have rocketed (relatively speaking) and they're rare, handsome, well built can't go wrong really.

Maybe, maybe(!), Jaguar XK8 /R but there's still quite a few of them.

Always thought the Aston DB7. Ok it's an XJS but it is pretty and while it's not that much cop to drive and a DB9 is a better car, the DB7 is better to drive and a better 'car' than the DB6...

i'd imagine that rarity increased those prices though, as being a ford i'm sure most rusted away.

mk1 mx5s seem to be pretty resistant compared to mk2s, so don't see their numbers dropping off a cliff any time soon.

I see probably 7-8 different ones in a week around here.

Integra DC2 type Rs will go through the roof in about 2 years time, so that's a good one to pick up now.

As soon as anything JDM and performance proven turns 25, they become legal to import to the USA, and prices go nuts.

If i was buying in the next couple years a DC2 would be where i put my money for a decent short term return.

997 Turbo are still rising
Ferrari 355
Ferrari 550
Ferrari F430.Not quite sure about the 360
G Wagens (G350d or G63) - I'm currently looking for one and residuals are just ridiculous on these
BMW 1m
Aston DBS are also holding firm
+Anything with a Ford and Cosworth badge!

The next modern cars I see being future investments I think would be theC63 (W204)at some point in the future, being the last of the 6.2 and being a bit of a hero. At the moment values are still dropping though, but not in a 'traditional big engine merc' way. I also think the same about B7 RS4's being last of the manual V8, and quite possibly V8 R8's.

The ship has sailed on everything else I think, and I just don't see any proper modern car ever being future classics because even the hot AMG/M/RS etc cars are being made in such large numbers.

I think good 996 turbo's still have a fair way to rise......most cars mentioned above have bolted upwards already.
