We’ve taken the plunge and bought a T5 camper to use as a side venture to our B&B. I’ve wanted a camper for years and this way if it contributes to its cost then it’s worh it!

I’m interested to hear other experiences?

Thanks!

Top tip:

Make sure you have the relevant gas and electrical certificates for the camper the rules are much tighter than if the van is just for personal use.

I've seen people hire them out on their drive way (ie no keys to drive away!) via Air BnB.

Join the camper van hirers group on FB - there are lots of people doing exactly this and that group has all the answers about insurance etc.

I rent my motorhome out via a company that I work closely with and that means that I don't have the same emotional bond with it as if I was the exclusive user - it is a bit of my business that needs to wipe its face.

If it is your dream vehicle: don't rent it out because it will get banged, table scratched etc. And you will need to find local specialists who can fix all that stuff quickly for you so a follow on hirer doesn't get their holiday ruined when there is some damage that needs fixing.

Thank you!

I’ve searched for that group but couldn’t find it - have you a link?

It’s not my dream vehicle but I do like it - we too are viewing it as something to wash its face as it’s not dissimilar from our day to day business. It’s gone out for the first time this weekend, and it’s booked through July and half of August which is a good introduction to it all!

Can I ask which company are you working with also?

Thanks!

Sure: take a look at www.themotorhomeholidaycompany.com

I will talk to the owner to get the precise name of the FB group that he was talking about.
