tailpipe bracket - Now you see it ........

1 week ago a small clonk had me scrabbling on the floor looking up alices rear end - and lo the bracket that holds her nice shiny tailpipes to the diff housing had rusted and parted company with one of the pipes.I spent the next few days working out how I could make an effective repair with a couple of jubilee clips but when I crawled under this morning I found that the bracket had come adrift from the other pipe as well and had fallen out of the rubber mounting and is currently lost!! The pipes seem quite firm without the bracket and no longer clonk so I am tempted to carry on without BUT I have a track day next week and do not want to risk losing the rear assembly half way round Cadwell park!HAS ANYONE any ideas for a bodge or has anyone been driving without said bracket without disaster? Failing this it looks like a new rear section. Any idea of cost?

A stong wire will hold it temporarily,(any kiwi's here will know of our "no 8" wire fix it mentality)

That'll be a coat hanger then!! Hmm thought of something similar but as the bracket has vanished, I have'nt really got anything to wire it too!

Happened to me. Wired it directly to the chassis. If I'd known the welding would have cost £60, I might have left it like that!
