Audi TT Roadster MK1 180

I decided that as the sun was shining, and I'd never owned a convertible before, I'd buy something for the summer as a third car.
I considered a few things, but was drawn to the MK1 TT's, as I'd always admired them since they came out all those years ago, and they still look good to my eyes.

First off, I've always admired KGF for the way they present their cars. Excellent company to deal with from start to finish.
So the positive? It's a lovely example. The not so positive? It's a lovely example of a 16 year old car based on the MK4 Golf.
Now I know that's a predictably cheap shot, and I never expected it to be the last word in driving dynamics, but let's just say things have moved on. Too stiff suspension, on too big a wheel, bolted to a shell that doesn't feel rigid enough, with steering that feels lifeless and numb. Fine at 5/10ths down a country road, starts to lose composure and become clumsy if you push harder. No great surprises.
Is it quick? No. But 180ish in what I'm going to assume is a fairly heavy little thing, it was never going to be. In reality, it's fine. Surprisingly short geared though.
The price? As near to makes no difference to 4K. Strong money for one of these, but I looked at a few cheaper examples, and let's just say I was happy to pay the extra.
The colour? Ah the colour. Although I would have never have specced green with green roof and Alan Partridge jacket grey leather interior when new, I like it, and found it preferable to the multitude a silver examples. I appreciate that I may be in a minority with this one, but that's fine.
So after a month and a few hundred miles mainly to take the dog to the park, or summer drives to a country pub, it's all good. Everything works.
One major problem though. Next doors very f
king white cat. The furry bd loves to sit on the roof, and I've given up/become terrified of moving the increasing aggressive little prick.
A cheap eBay clothes brush gets the hair off, but this is becoming a pain.

We have a Mk1 TT roadster and if I leave the garage door open next doors cat soon jumps on the roof, to make things worse it cannot get traction on polished paintwork. If it makes you feel any better we also have a Mini convertible and the other cat (they have 3) is forever on the roof. I've started throwing water at it when i catch it up there and over night i leave a plant pot on the roof with the keep off scent in it.
I agree with your comments, i feel the same about ours with the exception of performance, ours is a stg1 225.

And £4000 for what sounds like a lovely example?

My mate had one from 12 months old, he paid £22,000 for it.

Well, I've never driven a Golf that drove badly.
People said the same about the Chrysler 300c's... "They drive like an E class"
Yup, they were based on an E class, but I've never driven one of them that drove badly either.
For people who want a drivers car get an MX5, but then watch the corrosion consume it.
I love the mk1 TT so please keep this thread updated.
