Hi,
some opinions if possible:

Short classical music event and sit down meal in nice surroundings. Small (40) ish gathering, lounge suite required. Have consulted Debretts but no advice on whether silk handkerchief should match tie (tie is light blue to match blue threads in grey suit), or should be white.

What say the experts?

Will you be taking the sofa and both chairs? Two- or three-seat sofa?

You're asking Pistonheads!? biggrin

On behalf of the forum, a Subaru jacket and matching Subaru bobble hat are perfect for any occasion, matching if it's formal obviously. smile

I personally would never have a handkerchief that perfectly matches my tie. The same colour is acceptable as long as the pattern differs and white is always a safe option.

Yes, it's single (chimney-)breasted.

Thank you. I think I'll go for the safe option then.

Grey suit with light blue tie is a bit more flat-roof-pub wedding reception than classical music event but I am sure it will be fine.

Light grey with hint of blue thread. The tie matches the thread but I'm going with the safe option now. It's a lounge suit because it's more of a luncheon with a toff and some music than a straight classical music event.

Only hotels and airports have lounges.

No, the pocket square should not match the tie. It should complement it.

There’s a bloke at work who dresses like this only he’d add bright yellow or pink socks to the outfit. Nice bloke but wtf?

If in doubt, white (linen) pocket square.
