Being at the front of the queue was fun!

Well I think we were part of the 2nd group travelling east bound. We were parted from the first group but managed to hold the flag by setting the cruise control to 30mph!!!

Despite intimidation from a police biker asking us to speed up or else he would do us for causing a roadblock, we carried on to the services at J14. I was all up for being pulled, i mean all i was was a wide load!!!

Anyway a great start to a saturday, and a great turn out. If nothing is changed maybe the next should be on the 5th??

an excellent effort all round. I was in the green focus at pretty much the front of the membury group and although ive not seen any news coverage of it yet -from what I saw in my mirrors, it was impressive.

Well done every one!

How did you do it, just get 3 abreast and then gradually slow down over a mile or so?

At the start the nearside lane was pretty much going at a constant 40-50 in places. The middle was 50ish and the offside was travelling at national speed at first.

We tried to avoid going side by side to give us an escape space if anything went wrong. However we were mostly leaving 2 cars worth of gap between cars in the nearside and middle.

I would hazard a guess at the average speed being around 45- 50ish. I was at the front, but from what I saw in my mirrors, traffic was well backed up in most lanes. Well done to the guy in the silver porker behind us as well, you may well get on the news today!

It was a fantastic effort everyone which got our point across without completly gridlocking the road.

Had a call from Lord Daz of The West Country, sauntering up the inside lane in his S-class and generally abusing the scum.

Every credit.

Well I've just got back from participating and it was awesome. I'd say there were a good 100 or so cars and bikes going from Leigh Delamere to Membury, and probably half as many again coming the other way.

Support was amazing, in the whole 30 mile trek, only 3 or 4 people expressed their displeasure, whilst we had people on virtually every overpass on the way clapping, waving and generally being very supportive.

The whole thing ended up moving at between 25 and 30mph in the end, in just the first two lanes as agreed. Saw a few numpties doing very silly undertaking manoeuvres and a couple even took to the hard-shoulder to get past, showing that speed has little to do with accidents, and idiots pulling stunts like that do, but otherwise things were very orderly.

Also met Paul Smith and Robin Summerhill, so it was nice to put a couple of faces to nicknames!

I'm sure there will be a whole stack of photos appearing later, there were photographers everywhere, but I've got a couple of the services we met at on my phone which I'll stick up later, though they're not much cop!

Great day anyway, glad the turnout was as good as it was.

Yes had a highly enjoyable morning.

John, were you in the silver peugeot? If so well done sir.

Had a chat with Paul Smith of Safe Speed at Membury. An absolute honour to meet the man who is such a thorn in the side of the scamerati and their governmment paymasters. I was very perturbed to hear how much personal money Paul has had to spend on campaining so far, but the upside from campaining expenses always in excess of income from donations, is that no money sent to support safespeed ends up being taxed by the government. Paul a cheque will be going out first thing monday morning. I would urge all motorists who take road safety seriously, to ask themselves if we can afford to have someone as effective as Paul, having to reduce his campaining activity/interviews etc due to lack of funds to cover travel expenses etc.

COME ON PHERS, GET THE CHEQUEBOOKS OUT

I was just having a look at the aforementioned BBC web coverage and happened upon the 'Speed Check Services' link.

What a disgraceful shower of misery peddlars.

Simmer with hatred as you witness these unforgiveable bastards profiting from our wretched driving privations, on the phoney altar of this now much lambasted, misguided crusade of vilest numptitia.

Unberfrigginlievable.

What a fantastic day! It all went smoothly, there was a good solid turnout from Membury, and it seems the same was true from the other direction. I'm looking forward to see the news this evening. Any more pics anyone?

Oh and I've never got such good mpg either!

Glad to have been part of the protest, everyone was in good humer and as far as I could see no one was doing anything silly to give us a bad name.

Most of the other drivers seemed to approve as they gave us a thumbs up and every one on the bridges waveing.

If there is another I for one am up for it.

Yup everyone seemed to behave themselves, apart from a few truckers that got pretty close!

I think it went really well and would be up for another one.

What the hell is Prince Michael doing endorsing that lot of stazi-funded scum? I thought he was petrolhead not a pumpkin-head.

Had a great time, got to meet some really good people and I would definitely do it again, as would Ceri (my wife) who enjoyed herself immensely.

I noticed a few truck drivers weren't happy during the run, can't blame them really they just wanted to get where they were going, but I know at least trucker on the Membury to Leigh run took a poster and joined in - good on him.

At the end Mark (Membury organiser) said just over 100 cars took part in each direction and loads of bikes (I reckon 40-50 on the Membury start), but the best thing for me was the range of people and cars - it showed that this scamera business affects everyone.

When directing protestors from the main car park to the HGV park at Membury a lady in her 50's ran across the car park just to say that the protest was wonderful thing, and good for us all for taking part, she had only just heard about it, and was only sorry she could not join in because of prior commitments.

Another middle aged lady arrived and when she asked (A bit abruptly) what "I" was up to I explained and she said "give me one of those posters, I'm joining in!"

Cheers

Paul

I really did enjoy the whole thing, and my little boy loved waving at everyone on the bridges!!!

I agree that everything went really smoothly and apart from the odd person overtaking on the hardshoulder, and a few artics in the outside lane, everyone had was sympathetic to the cause!

I had a great time. was sceptical as to if it would work at first as we were quite spaced out leaving Membury, but soon it bunched up more and where I was we were down to 30mph a lot of the time.

Have to say that I saw some great driving from the protestors but some fairly shocking undertaking from the people trying to get past us.

Had a nice time chatting to everyone. Was very surprised when just after 10am 2 lovely women bib came up to me and asked what we were all doing there. they had been told to keep an eye on us but didnt seem to know why! They admitted that they could understand why we were protesting. I told them that we all want more bib on the road which seemed to please them!

Was great fun would be happy to do again!

I notice Der, how they proudly proclaim: "We are moving to our new offices in Camberley"

Wonder where they got the money from eh? Glad to see that they're spending it "wisely".
