Cheque clearing times
Discussion
Paid in a cheque last Monday at 10am, got told it'll be cleared by Friday and to start my checking my account from Thursday morning. Nothing cleared at all so went down to the bank Friday afternoon only to be told its in extended clearing, what on earth is that about?!?!! And that it'd be clear by Monday. It's now Monday, bank still hasn't cleared the money and starting to get pissed off with them as i had plans but now literally sitting around waiting for them
i thought new cheque regulations meant that you can now draw on a cheque 3 or 4 days after depositing even if it hadn't fully cleared.

The current clearing process takes 6 working days. In most cases the funds will be available after 4 working days (though the cheque could still bounce).
Your bank may have wanted you to wait for the full 6 working days (Tuesday 19th June 2018) to prevent the risk of an unauthorised overdraft occurring.
