Interesting southern Ireland reg number...

I have recently purchased an MGB from southern Ireland, previously registered in the UK, and when exported was given the number ZV 8007 ( V8 007 )
Having just read that a guernsey plate JB 007 sold for £240,000 !! Does anyone know if this is transferable? I cannot find anything on-line about southern Ireland transfring numberplates. I know they are not transferable here, but are they transferable in Ireland? Or is this just for my garage wall........?

The Guernsey plate was "007" - Guernsey plates are up to five digits with no letters, if the word of Wiki is anything to go by.I guess you had a look at the story linked to from the spotted thread, which has a misleading photo at the top of it.
No idea about transferring Eire plates, sorry.

Thanks, I thought not. and yes it is just a coincidental number. One for the garage wall then....I have never understood why the irish Revenue Commissioners have never realised the money to be made by issueing or transferring registration numbers as per UK. Given their propensity to tax and bleed the motorist in Ireland in every other way possible, I believe like many other missed opportunities it's a case of " If it's done in the UK then we won't do it here...."
The ZV plate is issued to an imported classic car . When the car is registered in ireland the choice is given to the person registering it as to whether they wish to have a ZV plate or a conventional year/county /number registration.
I chose a ZV plate but some counties are issueing plates with six and seven numbers after the ZV now which , frankly , look awful.
I've seen too many " coincidental " car /plate combinations to believe that the clerks issuing these ZV numbers at registration are following the next number available protocol . I asked but was almost threatend with excommunication .
It works in reverse too as I bought a car in NI with a plate that was hugely appropriate for the car but had to indulge in some mild skulduggery in order to sell the plate in the UK prior to registering the car here .

I thought the same, but the Wiki page says"From 2012 some number plates beginning with 0 and 00 was released to generate revenue for the island. Registration OO 7 is a highly desirable plate especially for fans James Bond or "007" - the plate achieved £240,000 at an auction in September 2015.[3]"

The Guernsey reg is Zero, Zero, Seven, all digits - like all Guernsey plates - not letter Oh, letter Oh, digit Seven. That's a UK plate, currently on a white Rolls Spur.

Seems a shame though..... Looks silly on an MGB, But a DBS.... ! I personally would not want it even if I has a DBS so garage wall it is !!
