Hi,

I'm in the early stages of starting a new business, and I'm on the road all of the time.

Initially I will be the only person who is able to speak to clients and discuss problems. To give a more professional image, I would like to be able to have a landline number for the business, however I would like to be able to phone out from my mobile cloaked as that landline number rather than just have it for incoming calls.

Is this possible?

Thanks

It's called 'Caller ID spoofing' and I believe that you can get an app for it.. Not sure about the legal side of things though

Thanks. A quick google shows that it's not illegal if its not for malicious reasons.

Thanks. Their website is pretty difficult to understand! Looks more complex than I am looking for.

I think people are much more relaxed about mobile numbers than even a few years ago. I wouldn't consider it unprofessional, in fact as a client I'd probably prefer it because (it makes it seem) I can get back to you easier (even if not actually true as your landline could divert to the same mobile anyway).

I would always have a landline on a website or marketing materials, but I tend to make business calls from my mobile.

You can always tell though it is forwarding. But you can get apps to add background noise if you want, but I think being contactable is better than leaving a message.

Get a Vonage box and install the app on your phone that allows you to dial out from the 'landline' over Wifi

I remember Orange offering it ~15 years ago, looks like EE still do:

And Voda: https://www.vodafone.co.uk/business/unified-commun...

Thanks perfect, thanks. Vodaphone is the only network I can get signal at my house (via a signal booster) so I'll go down this route.

Why not have a Skype or other VOIP phone number, you can use skype from your mobile and choose where your dialing code is.

VOIP allows you to pick a number with any local area code, or transfer an existing number in. Once you've done that you can use a VOIP app on your phone, or just set up a redirect to your mobile.

Still very impressed with Nimvelo.

Hi

I have direct experience of Vodafone One Net

Used it for a few years, so had the number printed on stationery, business cards etc.
A word of warning, Vodafone were very unhelpful when I tried to port the number out to another provider.
I think their logic behind it was to keep me locked in to their service.
Eventually managed to move the number over to Horizon. It took a lot of time and effort.
So I now have a VOIP phone in the office and an app on the iPhone that allows me to make and receive calls from the 'office' number worldwide.

Sorry to hijack, but does any one know where I can buy local phone numbers? I have a Twilio account I use to host them but they’re really poor now for having a good selection of local UK numbers. I only need a handful to transfer into Twilio!

I use smart numbers for buying the number and using the landline/mobile features.

Thanks! Is there any way to know both which number is calling and which number has been called when you have more than one landline redirected to a mobile?
