Whether it's someone daring to sniff on a train carriage, or mow their own lawn on a dry day on the weekend ( because mowing it on a wet weekday would be so much better ), or moving to the countryside and being outraged to find farmers keeping smelly animals or using the roads, or having their piss boiled because the neighbours allow their young children to play in their own back garden ( but get equally irritated if the same children play in the house because the noise comes through the walls ). It's all on PH boiling your piss and raising your blood pressure.

Has the UK become a nation of gumpy intolerant fkers, who imagine that noise, children, smells and close proximity to other people on public transport didn't exist in some past ( black and white ) utopia which has recently vanished? I for one believe all of the aforementioned things have always existed, it's not the world around us that has changed but the people in that world and how they cope, or rather can't seem to cope with it. Or perhaps they never could.

You may have a point. But garden karaoke machines didn't exist when I was a nipper (etc etc)

Because of the internet.

Before the internet existed, the only people you could moan to were your own friends, family and next door neighbours. They are sensible people who would quite rightly remind you that we need to have a level of tolerance towards other people.

Now the internet exists, there's an army of people who will happily side with you and convince you that you're right and everyone else is wrong.

Plus people always moaned but didn't have the internet.

It's not meant to be a rant, it's the opposite to a rant hippy

But now they do have the internet, and therefore have a larger audience to moan at. Therefore we're more aware of the moaners.

I'm perfectly tolerant of those that are courteous, respectful, keep their faith to themselves and are polite and helpful.

Either:
The st Dilemma: Without something to moan about we'd all be bored stless and end up gnawing our own hind legs off. Instead we end up boring everyone else stless with our ultimately pointless ranting to make their lives just as miserable and pointless as our own so a) they don't gnaw their own hind legs off and b. they in turn have something to moan about. We then get upset at their moaning and so on.

Or:

We're simian brains with Darwinian software in an alien landscape.

And/Or:

It projects Alpha male characteristics of leadership and dominance, stairs optional.

Take your fking pick.

Unfortunately the internet has given the great unwashed a voice, including me biggrin

Remember when complaining meant writing a letter and then going out to get a stamp then finding a post box. That would be enough to put most off.

Normally worked dividends if you did tho, as you'd often get a personal reply, or, as in my case, a giant box of Walkers crisps biggrin

Companies must be so inundated now via email, FB, Twitter etc that I'd imagine complaints are ignored.

Which is why if you want to get noticed, you write a letter, with a stamp (or somehow get the CEO's phone number... their Email will be monitored by their PA).

You see it a fair bit.

Too many people want something to be angry about is my take on it.

I say that as I used to be one. I'm not going to say I've turned into some kind of Buddhist but if you just decide not to give a fk about these things, live and let live, and try and see the other fellows point of view it goes a long way IMO.

I've been trying this with my driving. Mainly to keep my blood pressure low but yesterday, Sunday, my 5 miles commute thru London had me in a seething mess.

Thank heavens the idiots and dawdlers only come out at the weekend.

Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean.........

The opposite actually, these days (big) companies have large departments dealing with all sorts of minor moans or grumpiness, Christ these days you get compensation even if your complaint is rejected just as a goodwill gesture, it's bloody ridiculous.

Guess who pays for it, we all do!
Higher premiums, product costs etc

I have zero tolerance of fkwits.

Such as ******* Garden Centres.

Bought new garden furniture end of March - I spent in excess of £500.00.

It was delivered damaged. After nearly 6 weeks I am still awaiting replacement furniture to be delivered.

Getting mightily pissed off with the numerous excuses, lies & fob offs.

No matter who I speak too I get the same response ‘the problem will be resolved, we will call you back’ etc etc.

So today, after being assured that replacements would be delivered today, I have stayed at home for the third time to await delivery. And being self employed if I don’t work I don’t earn.

So, at 4.30pm, delivery is still awaited.

I call ******* Garden Centres asking where my delivery was.

The response? Our driver has taken a days holiday so we have cancelled all deliveries!!!

I ask why I wasn’t notified of this & received the reply ‘well we have re-scheduled the delivery for tomorrow although we don’t know what time’.

So now I have to wait another week for delivery at a time suitable to me.

Useless s.

OP you may be referring to. My rant in the other thread (about people being noisey) mentioned about a nearby garden cutting grass on a sunny bank holiday... with a petrol mower that took over three hours.
It's not about intolerance, it's about lack of thought for other people with your actions.
Sunny day lots of people enjoying their gardens = let's make lots of mechanical noise for hours. I wouldn't do it because I think about other people and wait till the evening. Same with someone mentioned bonfires. Warm day people have windows open and sitting in garden then there's loads of smoke, if have a garden burner. I use on a cold day/winter.

It's all about making things unpleasant with a total disregard for others.

Intolerance? No. Lots of thoughtless idiots around? Definitely

4/10 for the rant.
Jobs for the facelift Improvements for the next rant: soapbox
  1. Higher sarcasm content, or
  2. Higher moaning content
  3. Clearer sentence structure with fewer commas, or
  4. Discover the semicolon and hyphen e.g. I for one believe all of the aforementioned things have always existed; it's not the world around us that has changed but the people in that world and how they cope - or rather - can't seem to cope with it.

Oh so you're inconsiderate bd who starts making a bloody racket mowing the lawn just as everyone is trying to get their kids down to sleep, and no on a warm summers evening all the windows can't be closed at least not without cooking the kids in their beds. Why can't you mow the lawn in the middle of the day like any normal person!
