I'm looking for some help/advice/suggestions for my next car.

Currently have a modified VXR8. I love the noise, the on the road presence and the fact that it's quite a rare sight on the roads.

I'm looking for something faster, a bit more refined but still a bit special for around 30k.

So far have been checking out C63 AMG Estates, F10 M5's and RS4 Estates.

Can anyone offer any advice about living with these cars as daily drivers, or suggest any others that might fit the bill? I am a fan of slightly left field cars too, so throw in anything you've got!

Cheers

I went from a modified Bathurst S to a V10 M5.....if you could keep the V10 on the boil, it felt a lot quicker than the lazy supercharged V8 so a bit different to the usual stuff.

Blunt performance, the vxr8 is hard to beat, but the new turbo v8s in the german contigency are so much easier to mod to silly power if you're that way inclined.

Thanks for that, I love the E60 V10, best sounding M car for me! unfortunately my friend had one and his engine blew up out of warranty that cost a small fortune to replace. Probably just bad luck, but it scared me off. The VXR8 is great, but like you said it's pretty lazy and I think I want something a bit more modern and dynamic.

A bit left field.

Mustang?

The Infiniti FX/QX70 (the 5.0 V8)?

Lexus IS or RC F?

CL63 or if you ned for doors, CLS63.

EPIC cars, especially if you don't mind a little older and go for the N/a 6.2 in the CL.

When you say your car is modified, do you mean engine-wise?

If not, supercharge it?

Thanks guys:

Lexus - I've never really looked into, so I'll check them out

CLS - same, forgot to mention I need 5 seats as it's my daily, so have to be able to fit the family in. Not sure if the CLS is a four seater, but will have a look.

With regards to my car, it's got an OTR cold air intake, wild cam, fast 102 inlet manifold, full exhaust system from the block and a tune. Running just over 500. I did consider supercharging it, but it comes in over 10k to get the job done and I just can't justify the cost. If I sold mine and saved the 10k I could afford the F10 M5 outright!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I'll get Googling...

You could swap to a newer VXR8, one of the ones that is already supercharged? smile

That's true. Would probably make more sense than doing mine at this stage.

As above really, try a properly supercharged one and you’ll think it’s more terrifying than lazy. Or swap yours for one that’saready been done. 650-800hp really wakes these things up.

You can get a remapped M5 or AMG but it won’t have the drama of your R8 with a bit of forced induction.

Anyway, modifying these things is fun.

I had a lightly breathed upon Monaro VXR a few years back and now have a C63.

The Merc feels alot faster than what I remember the 'ro being and is also alot more discreet.

The Merc has far better build quality, ride and generally feels alot more modern.

The Monaro stood out a mile and always got attention but not in a bad way.

Seeing the links above I can't believe the price of some of those VXR8's. 32k for a 2009. Eeeek

I wanted left field from the usual German rivals so went for an Alfa Giulia.

Some great deals out there for the Giulia Quadrofiglio. Seems to tick all your boxes.
