What is this?

I picked up. Brand new Audi from a main dealer a few weeks ago. First time I wash it, I see this on a door panel near the wing mirror. I hadn’t seen it before since it was raining when I collected the vehicle. It’s about the diameter of a 50 pence piece.

Does it feel rough?

Looks like something has been rubbing the area. Maybe a cover flapping in the wind or something like that.

Either something rubbing on it or a salesman had an attempt at getting a mark out prior to handover and didn't do a great job but fortunately for him, Gods polish on the day of the handover hid it.

Is that white polish residue underneath the silver window trim?..i.e has someone been here before?.

I've seen a car that has had eggs thrown at it end up with something v.similar.

Should machine polish out fairly easily to someone competent with said tools, i.e not the dealership valeter or bodyshop!

It didn’t feel rough, no. I took it back to the dealer today who took it to the valeter and used a professional polisher which appears to have solved the issue.

Will that last or would the same marks appear once again?

should be good now, albeit with a thinner layer of lacquer on that area where they've cut it back.

Christ that looks horrific looks like they've used a brillo pad to clean it.

Any blemish on a new car i'd refuse to accept...most cars new now are not factory order, could be anything in that scenario.

Could had been a light scratch where they when trying to sort it and beloved Audi salesman decided to chance his arm.
