Good Afternoon Ph,

After a couple of years getting Fords from work I fancy a change. Really like the look of the new MK 3 TT 2.0 TFSI due to the performance of offer with relatively decent running costs & a nice interior.

Looking at getting a used 2016 ish car on PCP over 4 years for roughly (300 + 47 x 290.)

Other than a 228i I cannot really find many alternatives to consider (unfortunately not a fan of the 2 series rear end or interior.)

Could you guys recommend any alternatives or provide any owner experiences? - Have had a route around the TT forums just looking to get as many ideas as possible.

Thanks Guys!

Dan

I bought a 2015 TTS a few months ago... also on my shortlist were:
- Toyota GT86 - loved the driving position and feel, but thought i'd get tired of the lack of poke after a while
- Cayman - potentially ruinous running costs / Porsche tax
- 370Z Nismo - loved this. But decided the fuel costs would be ruinous, and the boot is pretty small (I wanted to be able to carry a bike) and I thought sometimes i'd want to be in something a bit more discreet that doesn't look like its just driven off the set of Fast & Furious

The TTS goes like a stabbed rat, it returns mid-30's MPG even on pretty average drives, super-practical with a big boot and seats that fold down, and is relatively discreet - unless you know about cars its "just another Audi". Its certainly on the "sensible" end of my list. Still early days though.

The MK3 TT is soon to get a facelift so if it's the car you want wait for a couple of months and the pcp deals for a brand new one should get cheaper.

Thanks for your ideas / input guys.

I would love a TTS but unfortunately budget restrictions ruin that a bit for me (Would like to stay under 320 a month.)

Through Privilege offers from work I could get a mustang 2.3 ecoboost for 360 a month with no deposit but its heavy, bad on fuel & slower than the 2.0t TT 230. Does look ok though..... boxedin

Agree with your points on the GT86 cayman & 370z. I could only really consider the GT86 from those but don't imagine it would feel much quicker than my current car.

PCP deals on brand new cars tend to have a fairly chunky deposit hence me looking at slightly earlier ones, plus I need to be able to trade my car in ideally. Thanks for the heads up on the facelift though!

I'd take the mustang over the TT everyday although it really should have 5.0 on the side.

A friend had a Mk3 TT, it didn't last long, it was replaced with a 440i

The 228i is a very nice car though.

Z4 coupe?
I have to declare an interest though. Depends if you can live with something a bit older. I drove a MK2 TT before I bought mine and I'll consider a MK3 TTS next time around.

If you decide to get a 2 series I'd go for the 235 or the 240 - sounds like you aren't convinced on those though

If you get a TT get the S tronic - suits the car better than a manual

How about a MK2 TTS if the MK3 isn't in budget? To be honest though the "normal" MK3 is probably about as quick as the MK2 TTS

I agree @steve IF it was a V8 but thats £430 a month with extra for fuel & unfortunatley its too expensive frown The 2.3 is only just over budget.

Same goes for the Nismo 370z although that is one pretty car! A big difference between that & the standard model.

@flight I was planning on giving both a test drive but will keep that in mind when it comes to looking for cars to test. Between the MK 2 & 3 TTS vs TT I would still go for the 3 just due to interior quality & a bit more tech.

Thanks again for your input guys, if only they did a modern brera.... :P

Agreed on the MK3 - the MK2 is starting to look a little dated. The interior in both is nicer than my Z though.

I was going to suggest a Brera (I'm a big Alfa fan) but it didn't sound like something you would be interested in

How about a 4C ha
