Hi has anybody had the tpms sensors changed recently?
Looks like all of mine have gone, i found a set of autel programmable ones on flea bay, it says that their for a DB9
Just wondering if they are right and can be programmed to the car.
Any ideas?

What follows is the result of extensive research, the purchase of sensors "promised" to be compatible, and email exchanges with a number of the manufacturers. If anyone can prove me wrong, I will be delighted.

If you have the Smartire system there is no aftermarket sensor available (programmable or otherwise).

Genuine Aston Martin parts is the only supplier. Expect to pay a lot.... over $200 per sensor. The Smartire compatible sensors are now made by Huf/BERU exclusively for Aston Martin and are not sold separately.

The later cars use a different TPMS system and these sensors are available in the aftermarket from Huf/BERU and others.

It is possible to change the battery in the original Smartire sensors if you are practical and know how to grind/drill out the fixing pins on the sensor, cut away the sealant and solder a new battery in place.

Or you can call James Hawkes Reed at Aston Installations and get an upgrade with current available sensors.

Thanks for the replies, i pretty much thought it would be the case of genuine parts only but i'm always willing to try something to save a few quid.
I'm not to bothered about it not working, but i might have the wheels referbed and i'll have a go at changing the batteries.

When I was at an indie garage the other week, they mentioned they could get non AM sensors to work. I’ll have a chat and find out if they really can.

In my local tyre garage with wife’s car and mentioned TPMS on Astons his immediate response was no problem £65 each they say there software enables them to replace and reprogram for any car.

Most of the the tyre installers have programmable sensors that cover most "modern" cars. Even when they have never tried to program a sensor for a Bendix Smartire system, rather than checking the compatibility list, they insist on saying "yes we can do it".

I have contacted all of the manufacturers of these programmable systems. None support the Smartire system used by Aston prior to 2012.

Here is a typical answer: "Since the volumes are low, and due to the high cost of firmware development and vehicle rentals, we decided to not pursue coverage for Aston Martins with Smarttire Bendix systems at this time."

Unfortunately there are no aftermarket wheel sensors for the Smartire system. I am currently developing a full replacement system for the Smartire Tpms for my own V8V. If all goes to my liking it will talk to the AM display and use readyly available sensors at a resonable price. The sensors will be cloneable which means you will be able to swap summer and winter wheels without having to reprogramm or relearn anyhing.

The youtube video refers to the Steelmate TP-105(e) system in necessary combination with iPhone mirroring to get the images on the navi screen.
I am working on a system to replace the Smartire box and sensors but still maintain the connection to the AM dashboard display to show low tire pressure message when necessary. All should be reasonable priced.

Just AV input, iPhone mirroring isn’t required. However, it isn’t cheap when you include the AV input stuff but you do get the benefit of camera inputs aswell.
The Steelmate has no alarm output so will never be able to trigger the dash text message as your planning to do. Which is a damn shame because that would make it pretty much perfect.

A plug and play replacement will be fantastic, best of luck with it. It sounds great.

Looks like I have successfully programmed four new sensors into my TPMS.....

Took some messing and learning with the Smartire Full Function display, but its working !!

you can buy a delete wire from Redpants website otherwise you get error messages, I have done that as I still have the ability to check my own tyre pressures

So do I, but when the garage you bought the car from supplies a full set of valves and sensors for free, and you like to learn...its worth messing with.
