The term ‘friday car’ is usually aimed at any car that seems to have issue after issue - can be any brand / model.
I’d had my previous car 4 weeks before it decided it didnt want to start one day, it spent 5 weeks with the main dealer - each time they fixed one fault another appeared, very much a friday car!

No it's not that kind of Friday car.... it's the car I drive on a Friday, starts every time. It's not been without its faults but the warranty has covered the 3 issues I've had. Was looking to replace it but I cant see me ever having another V10 that would be so reliable. People are often scared of these cars because of the huge bills associated with work at main dealers. I’m sure the aftermarket specialists must be getting better with the common problems.
Claim 1 was a problem with the fibre optic loop. Radio and sos system would go off and you had to disconnect the battery to reset it all. No fault would be stored so I had to wait till the fault would re occurr and take it into bmw once fixed never happened again.People are often scared of these cars because of the huge bills associated with work at main dealers. Claim 2 was ! Abs stability and traction control lights came on one day when I started the car BMW replaced a module at a cost of 2.5k.
Claim 3 was a broken front spring. Springs covered up to 60k apparently.
I get a local Indy to do all my servicing and bmw do the warranty claims.
