Buying a car- How do I check the options list?
Discussion
Looking at a Porsche cayenne, the seller doesn't know exactly all the options it may or may not have.
I have contacted porsche, they want me to first own the car, show them the V5 and then for a small sum of £65 they'll happily print out a A4 sheet with what options it has after 28 days of payment. How very nice of them. But totally unhelpful for me as i want to check the options before i actually buy the car. And £65 is quite frankly mind boggling.
So, does anyone know a reliable source as to where I can obtain the spec/options sheet, ideally without paying for it.
And before a smarty pants comes on here asking why I don't just go look at the car, I am 350 miles away. Or 700 miles round trip. Previous cars I was able to check the options online easily. I don't understand why its that difficult to do it on this vehicle.
I have the REG and th VIN from the seller, but obviously, I don't want to post it here. So if anyone can guide me where I can find options fitted at factory for this vehicle, It would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You will need a valid, complete VIN #.
1. Copy and Paste this link in your Browser: https://admin.porschedealer.com/reports/build_shee... VIN here for the car you want to view the build sheet]
2. In the browser link bar, replace ALL of the red text above, including the "[ ]" with the valid VIN of the car you want to look-up
3. Hit return
4. A Print window appears in your browser - you can see the build sheet, but you want to hit "Cancel" button
5. You can then save or print the Build Sheet image that appears in your browser....!

Are you saying he can't tell you because he's clueless or because, of the features the cars has, he doesn't know which were options ?
Could you not get a list of all options available at that time, highlight the ones that are of intrest to you, and ask the seller if it has those ones ?

Its a trader. Average sized company. They're selling on behalf of a client.Could you not get a list of all options available at that time, highlight the ones that are of intrest to you, and ask the seller if it has those ones ?
I don't know any other details.
TBH, I really want to find out the info myself instead of relying on their opinion, to then drive 700 miles to find out they got it wrong..etc. I did ask them to check, 2 days have passed and I haven't been emailed or called back yet.
I think a options/spec sheet is far more reliable though and prefer to go down that route anyway.

Honestly, I don't think this dealer has the car or the paperwork. Since he said they're selling for a client. Is there any other way I can get this basic information myself?
finding it so bizarre that its so difficult to obtain this info. It should be readily available to everyone.

to be fair i think you've done as much as you can.
tell the dealer/seller to get you the full spec of the car or forget about it.
laughable they are trying to sell something they have zero product knowledge of.
Quite common TBH tell the dealer/seller to get you the full spec of the car or forget about it.

Or they say the car has extras, you drive 100 miles to see it and find it doesnt have the one option you asked for!!
