I'm sure many PH'ers are in the same boat with this, whether you have your own warehouse or work in one.
Does anyone have any solutions to warehouse cooling?

We have 5,000 sqft plus 2,000 sqft mezzanine, and the mezzanine is almost unworkable, the heat is insane. The ground floor is a little better with 20" fans dotted around.
Sadly there is no ceiling ventilation, so other than turning on the high velocity destrat fan, and opening the roller shutter and back door, what else can we do?

Furthermore to those in the know about physics/engineering. Is it a good idea to put the destrat fan on and blow the warm air back down from the top of the building?
If you're under the fan, it is hot, but the warehouse as a whole does seem a little cooler?

Install opening vents/windows to release heat out of the roof and thereby bring air through the building?

If you look at the building opposite Parliament, that is what the chimneys are for....

Had this problem before.

I had an extractor fan put in about 16inch if memory serves in the highest point in the wall at the opposite end to the door.

Open the door a crack turn the fan on and it will draw out the heat and pull in nice fresh air, made a big difference and was cheap.

I would say as above, simple wall mounted fan to remove the heat. rather than having to open a door you could just fit a wall mounted louvre down low. create some air movement and all should improve.

We have 4 of these in our 15,000sq/ft factory.
They are unbelievable. In summer turn the rpm up and they create a breeze around the shop. In winter turn the rpm down and they throw the hot air back down.
They claim 3 years to pay back on heating cost reduction. Ours took 2 years and does away with all the small fans around the shop. Look pretty huge and the name is just classic.

I can't recommend them enough.

The last place I worked at, everyone complained every summer about the heat (60 or so people split between the office and warehouse), so they put air-con in the offices and didn't bother with the warehouse.

To rub salt into the wounds of those outback, all the condensers were fitted inside the warehouse rofl

Unbearable is not the word for it.

Back on topic, these seem popular in the states.

Hi, I work for Rite-Hite, we manufacture HVLS (High Volume Low Speed) fans. The fans are the best selling in the US. Let me know or PM if you want more details. We have a fan installed at our Milton Keynes HQ and serve the UK nationwide.
