CO2 issues...?
Discussion
Big big problem apparently.
I work for a Draught soft drinks compnay and we supply C02 as part of our equipment - no gas, no fizz....
Our tank at work has been empty for 8 days so far and no idea on refill dates yet.
Only 2 or 3 big manufacturers in the UK and two of them were down, and the largest producers in Europe were all on Summer shutdown as well.
Ive heard a few people saying all should ok by next weekend, but I think people will over order for a bit to kep extra in stock.
The big breweries have been limiting production, beer gas (70/30 and 60/40) is also in short supply.
Ive also heard that it is used in wholescale chicken slaughter as well.
Basically, a much wider used commodity than many think and only a few prodcuers and very limited storage capacity.....

It's been causing us big headaches. We cool our reactors with CO2 and maintain about 800 tonnes of liquid CO2 to meet daily use (about 2-4Te per day) and emergency use. This is actually not a problem as we can maintain normal use stocks ok , but
We need to purge and fill one of our shutdown reactors from air to purity in a few weeks and we need about 800Te for this while maintaining are emergency minimum stock levels.
Ho hum.

No problem with supplies from Booker here in Manchester. Meat deliveries have been fine for my place too.
Had 3 bottles of CO2 for the draught and post mix. Got another 2 from my usual supplier last week. Usually pay £6.50 this time it was £19 at cost too. I told him I would have happily paid more for it but he said it was swings and roundabouts for the lunches he always gets when he drops off. That's why I always try and look after people.
The above should see me through until next week when things should turn to normality.
