When writing about myself, I use a capital I. This isn't because I think I'm special, by the way - we all do it.

So why don't I write about Myself or Me? Again, not just me; why don't any of us?

It's a bizarre quirk of the English language; I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

A capital 'I' is used because it was thought that a lowercase 'i' would get lost too easily in the text, leaving sentences trickier to parse.

No, it was definitely Dexy's, because I remember Rowland Rivron dressing up like Daisy Duke

You've clearly never heard it sung in a Japanese karaoke bar.

I thought this was a thread about Joan Armatrading...I happened to be listening to that album last night having a fit of 80s nostalgia. smile

I thought this thread was about the irritating habit of people using “myself” when they either mean “me” or “I”.

It seems to have become strangely prevalent recently. It is extremely ANNOYING.

Mysefl is used reflexively (I think that's the term)

For example..

"I hurt myself" rather than "I hurt me"

And where would Eric Carmen be if he had written the smash hit "All By Me" instead?
