GP registration near work

I have seen on the NHS site that you dont need to be in the catchment area to register with a GP but can also register one near your workplace

but on the individual practice websites they ask for your postcode and then a message comes up saying your not in the catchment area,any idea how it works as both the NHS site and practice sites contradict each other

thats something I didnt think of,but if I do that yes the system will accept it at that time but when I actually go in to the practice to register they can refuse me I guess?

Just to clarify. You can only be registered at one GP practice at once. So you won't also be registered at the one near work but only registered at the one near work.
