Long time no post.

Whilst trying to finalise an order today for a 2018 RS3 sportback I have been told that Audi is ceasing production due to strict new emissions tests and regs

The Audi website configurator supports this with a statement saying limited availability.

Slightly dissappointed as it looked like a good replacement for my current Golf R (7) workhorse. Is this now common knowledge?

I immediately enquired about the RS4 which didnt have the same issue and is still available to order but does have the same statement attached on the website.

Thanks in advance for any replies and any light that can be shed on the matter. Will production of the RS3 resume at a later date does anyone know?

There's been a production hold on quite a lot of cars (this isn't exclusive to Audi) as new emissions tests are taking a lot of time.

I've not heard about anything being cancelled outright because of this but I guess it's possible.

Ok, thankyou for the replies. I am just waiting to hear back from Audi UK as to whether or not it is a delay or complete cease in production.
Happy to wait a few months if it is just a delay whilst the emissions are retested.

Hi,

I was looking for the same and in the same situation. My worry was that the new emission regs would change the map or add a petrol particulate filter and change the noise/ character of the car IF they did continue production

I found quite a few new cars either at dealers or on the way with good discounts therefore went for one of those and am now the proud owner of a bardo grey sportback!

Happy car hunting!

Quite possible.
There are big delays on the S3, as production was halted earlier in the year, with Audi writing to pre-order customers giving them the option of cancelling.

Production is restarting, but the engine has been remapped and has lost 10 bhp.

I just picked up an S3 last week, had a right headache due to the emission regs.

I was told that unless I picked from the limited stock that was already built, there wouldn't be a hope in getting a car for over six months. I guess this is the same deal.

Happening on many cars, I’d be interested to hear your response from Audi. The 8v generation is coming to the end of its life so wouldn’t be surprised if they call it a day for RS3. RS4 is so new surely that’ll continue. Bmw have sacked off M3 as it was close to end but carried on M4 with new petrol particulate filter so guess depends on projected sales and ball ache of meeting regs.
