Hi

I've just spent a frustrating day trying to repair the roof of the OH's 2007 Citroen Pluriel without success, and have decided it's time for a decent car. The Pluriel was a stop gap/station car after selling a VW Up and we had had a lot of fun over the last year, but my patience has run out.

We don't have children but are thinking about getting a dog, and an ideal combination would be a 2 seater (Z4 or Fiat 124) and something more practical. I've always bought cars at auction (circa 3 years old) but the private buyer fees now make it marginal. The Dacia Duster seems to get good reviews on here, and the 2018 model looks to be an improvement, and with the low price and fairly decent residuals I am now thinking this might be an option.

The 2018 Essential 115 model with met paint at £12k looks like a decent compromise in terms of price/equipment (air con is a must). I've never bought a new car, so unsure in terms of lead times - has anyone ordered one recently and could advise? I will of course venture to Dacia for a look when I am a bit further down the road in terms of a decision.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Tim

Availability is normally fine, they keep most colours in the country for quick delivery.

At the moment you can only get the 1.6 petrol, which is fine and does the job, the newer 1.2 TCE will come later in the year and is a much better engine but of course costs more money.

Go and have a look, you won’t be disappointed, the old Duster was great, the new one is even better.

Thanks for that. The 1.2 looks like a great choice but as you say will not be here till later in the year/2019. From what I read it would start at £13k?

I will have to book a test drive as I suffer from a bad back and really need decent lumbar support, and by all accounts the 2018 seats are an improvement.

Yes, looks like it will be a long time coming for the 1.2 or the diesel at the moment.

The seats (and the whole car) are much improved, is it the last word in comfort? No, but for the price they’re cracking (personally is be paying for the Prestige model in Orange)
