Just got back from a few nights in Bordeaux and had a great time but we really missed our dog so thought it would be great to drive down next year with him for a couple of weeks.

It’ll just be me, my wife and our dog and the cars we have to choose from (right now) are an Evoque or Boxster. Obviously the Boxster won’t make for a comfortable trip but I would really like something sporty for the holiday rather than an SUV so I’m wondering (wishfully) if the rear seats in a 911 are the answer?

I’d like a 911 at some point so happy to trade in the Boxster. If the back seats in a 911 are good enough for a dog then the question is which one to go for: coupe, conv or targa. It’s probably going to be a 911.1 .

I’m hoping the answer is a Targa but think it’s probably stick with the Evoque. Hopefully you’ve all got great stories of trips to europe in your 911s with your four legged friends.

He’s a cockapoo, about 12kg and awesome smile

I think the real question is how car friendly is your dog.

Only way is to test on longer trips and if he’s comfortable up the frequency so he’s totally used to it as part of his routine.

thumbup

Oh and I don’t think it matters too much what car it is, although the tire roar from those fat 911rears might not be music to his ears.

Booster seat so he can see out the window and be securely attached also recommended.

My 14kg Working Cocker Spaniel fits in the rear seat of my C4S perfectly.

She curls up in the seat behind the driver on a blanket and is happy as Larry.

Oh and this is the nicest thread on here for a while, forget values, depreciation, warranty and all the usual stuff, will my dog like it.

Only dog people will understand.

There is a German company that make a got bed that fits over the two rear seats and tunnel to form a flat comfy bed for them if they need a bit more room.

Might be an idea to check that pet passports still exist next year- given that no deal now looks the likeliest outcome I’d suggest that this may be doubtful.

Agree - we need pictures of Porsche’s with dogs in them smile

Not my cars or dogs and technically not actually in the car - but I like this one :

It’s not a practical car they said...

Re: 911, my Border Collie fitted on the back seats in my 991 C4S - though he preferred them being folded down and lying across them. Shouldn’t think you’ll have too much trouble with the cockapoo so long as he’s a good traveller!

Well I have no idea why that’s uploaded sideways and I do not have the technical skill to change it, but rest assured it’s a Border Collie riding shotgun in a GT3!

Our Jack Russell called Butzi smile hasn't actually been inside the Porsches yet. My main worry is him scratching the leather as he's only a year old and still very lively. How do you guys get on with this or are all your dogs perfectly behaved?

Great thread btw

911 rear seats should be fine for your dog but I would suggest getting one with privacy glass or getting some after market anti-reflective film as it can get quite sunny in the back of a 991.2.

I actually run a Cayenne aka 'the dog mobile' purely for my dogs as they're too big for the 911.

Thumbs up for this thread.

Funnily enough that is why in all the years I have never put any of my dogs in the 911. Scrabbling on the door cards to look out of the window.

Love this thread! Here is my Cocker spaniel in the 996:

NOTE: you can't see the dog harness on him, but it's there; normally he is in the back but we were only nipping around the corner and I thought why not? sunglasses for comic effect only, although if anyone ever finds a decent set of dog glasses give me a holler wink

I've managed to get my other Labrador in the back (for a vet run) - but he wasn't that comfortable looking to be honest.

Years ago, 5years BC (Before Children) we had organised a road trip and at the last minute we lost our dog care and ended up looking after our friends dog too; so we had our German Shorthaired Pointer, our English Springer Spaniel and our friends Border Terrier along for the ride (with all their beds and food too) - had a great time and got the thumbs up from many people along the way whom realised we were a 911 mobile kennel.....

The one negative was that they got very hot in the back being so close to the engine - the sun roof was essential!

Thanks for responses. Heartened to hear there’s some happy dogs out there being driven around in the back of 911s.

Our dog has been fine for long trips in the back of the Evoque so will hopefully travel well in the back seat of a 911. He prefers the driving seat when in the Boxster though.

The search for the perfect dog friendly spec 911 can begin!

The title of this thread caught my eye.
I’m a Cayman 981GTS owner and our 8 month old Cockerpoodlington loves a front seat view.

My other half call the rear (GT3) 'whippet wells' and Olive, our whippet happily curles up with her soft bed in the back. It was the reason I didn't get a CS !

We took ours out in their seats in the 911 Coupe GTS!

They have been cruising today in the GTS cab with the roof down again in their seats!

My Dalmatian rides shotgun in the Cayman, I won't let him in the GT3 as he sheds to much white hair (or Dalmation Glitter asmy wife calls it!).

Gratuitous excuse for a dog in a Porsche photo. On the rare occasion I am in the car on my own with our hound (and he's not muddy) I sometimes let him sit on the front passenger seat. Unlike most dogs he doesn't put his head out of the window but sits there staring at me!

That’s a wolf not a dog (very lovely - is it a Keeshond ? !) smile
