Bmw520d Gearstick

Hi I recently purchased a second hand 520d manual. 2014. The gearstick has always vibrated a little when the engine runs and tends to then stop once in gear.

Ive also noticed when going over a bumpy road, there’s a little wobble of the gearstick.

my first bmw and first diesel so I’m unsure what’s normal. 

 Any assistance appreciated.

Its completely normal and my 520d manual did exactly the same. Diesels suit an Auto much better for me because they help to remove some of the harshness of the engine.

Thanks. It seems to stop vibrating when in gear and driving, but only when the car is idle ie in traffic or starting up. I assume that’s also normal? Was worried it might be symptomatic of a flywheel problem.

Yes and its completely normal, mine always did what you're describing. I thought it was a bit strange when I noticed it though.
