meta alarm M99T on 99 Griff

Recently bought a 99 Griff that had a missing alarm siren. Took it to local meta dealer who coded 2 new keyfobs that look/unlock car ok, however when siren was plugged in and alarm was activated the alarm siren goes off immediately. The indicators flash 3 times only but the siren continues until you disarm.
I have also found a purple connector that comes from the siren plug wiring loom , could this be causing the problem (where does it go )
When i unpug the siren the remote central locking and immobliser work fine as they do with the siren connected but the only difference is the damn siren goes off as soon as i arm again.

The siren is very likely goosed. It's common on these cars because the siren does not take well to water but TVR in their wisdom fitted them in the nosecone. Normal solution to the problem is to disconnect it and wait until the internal battery dies. The rest of the system works, it just doesn't alarm anymore. Being a 99 car the chances are it's a Meta 99T2. If so then all parts are available. Find the control box in the dash to check the model number.

He'll be able to confirm over the phone whether it's the siren at fault (which seems likely). He'll then ship you a new one at about 90 quid. 2 minute job to swap.
He knows his stuff, helped me sort mine over the phone which ended up requiring a new siren and cable (the cable was "fun" to swap by the way!)
The loose purple wire you refer to is for a bonnet sensor, which isn't used in TVRs so don't worry about that one.

We had to replace our siren about 12 months ago when it conveniently went ballistic when we were walking around the castle in Edinburgh (live in Brum). The neighbours were livid. Trying to explain what to do to 2 sets of parents and a neighbour in the dark and rain (no garage) was interesting.
It was replaced for about £90 and we have now put a food type plastic bag over it with a laccy band at the bottom to reduce any future water ingress.

The purple wire is for another sensor, which is not used (eg a bonnet switch). It needs to be earthed to activate the alarm, so wrap it up with a bit of tape to stop it causing problems.
New sirens are £58.10 plus vat from tvrcarparts.com. & it comes with a new cable (I didn't need it, so have a 'spare' if you want it).
The alarm siren in my 98 Griff (meta 99T) was knackered, so I replaced my siren two weeks ago. Easy job.
Disconnect the siren and do a full test of the alarm first(test procedure on a card with your handbook - email me if you don't have it) just to make sure the alarm itself isn't broken.
Oh, the bolts are a bit awkward to get on, so be prepared to skin your knuckles and swear quite a bit!
