I know its been said before but can anyone imagine this sort of service?
I was entere for two races so I had two qualifying sessions. The first started well with my first lap a 54.7 but then things seemed to be going wrong, no power out of the high G corners, times got longer. Even worse in th second qualifying sesssion, ending up with an obvious missfire and no power.

So Matt's there with his laptop, he lifts the plugs to find no 1 cylinder fouled with oil, he diagnoses a failed ECU injector driver but can't login to the ECU with his laptop, he rings his chum Dave Beasly (the man who built Lee's M12 racers). He pops down with a spare ECU and a set of plugs.
New pligs fitted no joy.
New ECU fitted, it runs but because its fresh from the factory it needs a map. Matts laptop can't connect to it. So Dave sends out for his own factory laptop. It's delivered to the circuit but can't connnect to the ECU either. So Matt then dissasembles the factory laptop hard drive and fits it to his laptop. Still no joy. So then Dave leaves the circuit to drive to the factory to map the new ECU there and then brings it back for fitting to my car.
Anyway after a whole load of calls to other Noble staff and after Matt and Dave have spent about 3 hours crawling all over the back end we find the fuel filter clogged up with sludge. Diagnosis is an injector clogged with gubbins.
So very dissapointing for me - no racing but what about that for service from the Noble factory?
On a sunday, 2 trips back and forth from no less than the Noble development manager plus supply and re-mapping of an ECU and a set of plugs plus hours of his time.
I just cannot find the words to express my gratitude, it was a real b****r to loose two races but I am still bowled over with what Matt, Dave and his mate did to try to get me running.
Thanks
Paul C

And its a bank holiday.

I picked up the M400 on Saturday morning.

They are a great team!

Sorry to hear about the racing, better luck next time :-)

Paul, sorry about the dissapointment although it's good to see that level of customer service.

What the likely cause for the clogged injector?

Paul,

No problem, its just a real shame we couldn't get it up and running for you. One of those problems where the symptoms can point to a variety of failures.

I've passed your thanks onto Dave and Ant.

Best Regards
Matt

Fuel filter clogged soild with gunge and debris, including a whole load of alloy shavings. GOK how that got there. Anyway some of it must have penetrated the filter and blocked the injector.
Compression testing showed the affected cylinder hadn't burnt anything so I suppose it could have been worse.

Now the lesson for you lot is the first sign I had of this was a fallof in power out of high G corners, so if anyone notices that check their filters and remember do not track a Noble with less than 1/4 tank of petrol.

I suppose if I ran my tank low and it was being sloshed about by some pretty high G loadings then that could have freed up caked on debris from the bottom of the tank. The tank was replaced when I moved to the 6 speed box about 4000 miles ago.

I was truely amazed at the help that Matt, Dave and Ant gave for Paul. I cannot imagine any other manufacturer and 3rd party supplier reacting in the same way.

At one point Matt said in jest "shall we take the engine out?", and I *almost* thought they meant it such was their determination to get the thing running properly again. I am sure if they had spare injectors and the rest of the gubbins they would have replaced them as well.

Bit of a bummer that it all pointed to debris through the fuel filter - if you track a car, as Paul says, never go below 1/4 full and ensure that you get the service centre to regularly check the filter for crap.

On a lighter note, piccies up soon on nobletv.co.uk, including Paul air vent "mod" (although given the 'drasticness' of it, perhaps "mod" is too little a word!)

It was gubbiiins in the fuel system. Get you fuel filters checked at the next service! injectors are £100 a time.

IIRC there was a problem with early Nobles with crap being in the fuel tank from South Africa. Not sure how your's would have lasted this long if this was the case, but the metal filings bit sounds *VERY* familiar with how I remember that fault being described.

I am now fully versed in the limit and what it can do to my trousers

Seriously though in his defence he nearly caught it, bedford is definately the place to do that kind of thing anyway.

Ah - but nearly wasn't enough.

Still, perhaps 100+mph was just a "tad" over the limit for that corner in the wet
