Hi,

Just thought I'd introduce myself and felt that I should make a few comments.

I spent about a year or so thinking about purchasing a TVR and finally decided on a T350t. This website was very handy in getting some good info on what to expect. I have to admit that I did have some major worries regarding the reliabilty issues. These are my thoughts after 3 months of ownership and just under 4000 miles.

I managed to get a very good deal from the chaps in North London, I know we can't advertise but the cockney rhyming slang has something to do with hair. Anyway these chaps have been nothing but helpful from sales to servicing.

What worried me most before purchase was the reliabilty (as mentioned) and this site certainly made the hairs stand on end. So far I have had the following problems;

loose connection for drivers electric window (meant the door would not open)
drivers targa panel
some trim issues

and thats it. The chaps at the garage could not have been nicer or more helpful in sorting it out.

I have to admit that expecting it to fall to bits along the of a clown's car, I have been very surprised at the build quality (fingers still crossed and constant touching of wood).

On the plus side its the best looking car on the road (bit biased here I know). It just gets better to drive each time I do. Its a great drive and is not difficult although it still has the ability to scare willies out of me when I am being silly.

I would highly recommend one although mine is only used at weekends. What has totally surprised me is the attitiude of others to it. At a rough guess I would say it gets photographed at least three times every time it is out. People smile and wave and if posible will ask what it is. It puts a smile on my face every time I get to drive it and it seems to get better everytime I use it.

The only things that currentky worry me is the temperature when drving in town (London so dead slow for miles) the water gets in to the 90s and the oil to the high 80s. I've never heard the fans coming on, but as soon as it moves the temperatures fall.

How long does it usually take to put the targa panels back on and should it be a two person job?

Well bit of a long one but thought I could add some sensible thoughts for those thinking about buying a TVR. Any comments on my questions would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Steve11

Hi

Nice to hear some positive comments about the 350.

Don't worry about the temperatures they sound fine (Just had my heating system looked at) and currently running 90-95 (Water) and 80-90 Oil).

Do you have any pics?

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the feedback and the points about the temperatures. As for picss, unforntunately no as I appear to be be the only human in the Northern Hemisphere not to have a digital camera.

Kind regards.

Get Thee to Jessop's Man ( but print the best deal you can find on the net first - they'll match it ).
anything over 3Mega Pixels is fine - i like my cannon.

you can't have a car like that and not own a camera!

Hi Hambo, glad you're enjoying your new toy.
As previously mentioned the temps sound ok.
As for the targa panels, well you should be able to handle them on your own. I struggled at first and it used to take ages to get them back on, but now it only takes a couple of minutes. Just make sure the seals are ok when you put them back on. Mine tend to come away from the panels and get twisted.
Rob.

Sorry mate, I believe the last Papua New Guinea tribesman just got one with his mobile phone, so you're it for the planet now.

Hambo,

Test driving a T350 this Saturday morning at the same dealer that'll remain nameless Drove a Tamora last Saturday, was interested in the yellow one they have, very impressed but then started thinking that the T350 does look so much better, from all angles.

What colour combo have you gone for? That will be my biggest problem....I need help! (I did fancy the yellow brochure colour.....but the flys!!)

You don't have to tell me but, if you don't mind me asking, what sort of deal did you manage to get? Every little helps and I'd hate to think that someone out there has done better that me!!!

I'm in central london as well and my oil is always at 80 odd, but my water sits generally between 100-110 on longer traffic delays!

If the fans are coming on, it's means the cooling system is working fine.

Hi Vinnie,

I've emailed you my response.

As for the fans coming on, I've never heard them coming on, should I?

Kind regards.

Hambo,

Thanks for your reply, yes, most helpful and hopefully will be doing a deal with them soon. As I've already said, the colour is my problem. I started out thinking Yellow with anthracite wheels, then Orange something, Chameleon green, Chameleon orange, Saturday I'd almost agreed Venetian Blue but at the moment it might be Moonraker Black....or not! HELP PLEASE!

I was very very impressed with my test drive, no way near as nervy and twichy in a straight line as the Tamora I drove the week before, don't know if that's down to coupe verses convertible or because the T350 was a later/ current model with the little tweeks, I would suspect a bit of both. As soon as I've decided the spec and put down the deposit, I will tell the world!
