Recommend a specialist for retrofit reversing camera - Yorks
Discussion
Hi, I have a 9 month old Cayman 718. No sensors or rear camera. Got lazy over the last few years and have relied on them in other cars. I know retrofit of parking sensors may invalidate Porsche warranty so want to avoid (holes in bumpers etc) number plate surround sensor options would require a hole for a wire so again, not an option.
Have seen this:
https://www.in-car-install.co.uk/porsche-boxster-7...
Which is a retro fit rear camera that uses the PCM to display the output, the camera is in one of the number plate lights so no drilling.
I’m in 2 minds - do nothing and learn to park (which might be the best option) or have the camera fitted, but really don’t want to if the work could damage the interior of the car - I believe that the panels around the centre console come off and the head unit can be removed, just not sure if this will introduce panel refit issues etc.
So if I were to go down the route of retrofit, I would only do so if I knew the fitter was very good and had preferably worked on a 718.
Can anyone recommend either a Porsche specialist or auto electrician who you would trust to do this work in the Yorkshire area (I’m not far from Thirsk but happy to travel). Specialist Cars of Malton said it isn’t the kind of thing they would do.
Many thanks
