The VXR has a lower rear diff ratio. This is the same ratio as in the clubsport R8. The breaks are slightly different also. The diff ratio gives the feeling of more of a cruiser than a street fighter.

The standard VXR are two pot swing calipers, do you have the premium breaks on your car? I can't remember.

The press-speak says the brakes on the 6.0 are uprated from the 5.7. Is that up-rated from the 333bhp model or the 5.7 VXR?

the brakes on the newer Monaro are uprated compared to the CV8 5.7L, the VXR uses the standard Performance HSV (or level 1 if you like) brake setup and also a suspension setup (I think) based on the HSV GTO (not Pontiac) which is somewhere I believe between the standard Monaro and the HSV Clubsport setup.
Funnily enough the 4 doors have tended to be quicker in 0-100 (with same spec engine and, diff and gearbox) but the 2 doors have had a higher top speed.

Hey Matt, don't get cocky mate....

Higher terminal speed and about 1 second slower to 60 foot than you....I think i've already broken the 14 second barrier, I just need to get off the line at greater than 500rpm! Also shame about the rain stopping play.

Actually Des is after the info to support his SVA quest.

He is down to the point that if his brake package is the same as or better than the VXR monaro then he has a case to avoid the ridiculous testing that VOSA will have him do.

His car has the same kerb weight as a VXR and I think he as the premium brake package. Even if he hasn't he has the same brake package as the VXR (HSV GTO). He is going to check tonight and if so he needs a friendly antipodean garage to write him a letter detailing this.

Stu Harris, perhaps Vauxhall UK could help?
Sorry for being up-front asking, but this guys has had a nightmare trying to get this car into the UK.

Cheers, Eric

the Clubsport uses the HSV (PBR I think C5 Corvette calipers )Perfomance Brakes system and has 330mm discs up front with twin piston pin slider calipers, the rear has 315mm discs with a singel piston pin slider caliper.
I actually have the original leaflet from HSV detailing the system and saying it has been tested to the European AMS standard?. After 10 quckly repeated stops from 100kmph your car should stop in 38 meters.
This system is better than the Monaros up to 04 at least and the same as the HSV GTO,I think the VXR uses the same system.
The running gear on the Clubsport and GTO is virtually identical bar a slightly different steering rack ratio.
If I can be of help contact me at nova.nz@clear.net.nz
Cheers Jay

Sorry, I forgot Kiwi - if your car is an R8 as per mine it should have the Premium system which is 343x32 mm cross drilled discs (no grooves)up front with 4 piston red calipers and 315x18 mm cross drilled discs with 4 piston red calipers at the rear. All calipers should have HSV on them.
Hope this helps
Jay
PS it would be worth contacting HSV head office in OZ with your build number (shows on odometer when no key in) and they should be able to send you the full specs of your vehicle. this might help with those bloody tests.
