Suggestions please for a new, but used car
Discussion
I trust I'm posting this enquiry on the appropriate forum page, apologies if not. I'm sure one of you kind folks will then advise me where to post it. But here goes:
Due to me getting older, a fair bit thicker round the waist and consequently being less flexible, I'm looking for suggestions for a used car which is easier to get in and out of than my Vauxhall Astra 1.6 (which, BTW, I have had for a good few years and has been a treat to own). I need suggestions of makes/models that might fit the following criteria:
Automatic, petrol, NOT diesel. Higher off the ground than an ordinary saloon/hatchback. Plenty of headroom. 5 door hatch, or possibly estate.
If there is anything in the Toyota range which someone might suggest (other than the RAV4), it would be very welcomed as a consideration as I had an excellent Carina for a long time. I know from a fiend how reliable Hondas are, but I don't want to rule any maker out at this stage.
Generally reliable, but fuel economy is not a vital factor as we only do around three thousand miles annually.
Probably needn't say this, but great performance is also unnecessary. Having said that it should "go" better than the 1500 Austin Maxi I had back in the 1970s! It was a dream car for me but had very little power. And don't get me started on its gearbox!
Probably not less than around three years old - being a pensioner, price must be considered
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks
