Hi,

My 997.2 Turbo S currently runs Pilot sports 2. I'll be needing a new set shortly just wondering has anyone changed to this and were there any noticeable improvements ?

thanks

10 fold the PS2 is about a 12 years old design.

PS4 is more a basic hatch tyre though the performance model is the PS4S

made the same change recently in my alpina and about 750 miles in i think the ps2s were better on the limit and would break progressively and predictably. i dont have the same confidence in the ps4s

you are just going far faster and pulling more G with the PS4S so they will break faster due to that, I have run 3 sets amazing tyre.

On my car (997.2 C2S) I had the older ones on it, then changed for the new versions. I did notice a difference in the noise, they were quieter. I also noticed a difference in grip.

On a few occasions I could get the older version rears to step out a tiny bit, the new ones haven't done that. Both have been to Corsica and back, so that included some nice roads through France / Italy and Corsica. I'm no racing driver and my wife was in the passenger seat, so I'm sure others will tell you they do / can get them to lose grip, but driving both versions at similar speeds, I felt the new ones gripped better. Turn in and front end grip felt better as well.

I recently changed from PS2 to PS4S on my Cayman R and they feel incredible. Especially in damp/went they seem to have endless grip!

I even spoke to a MIchelin advisor about the two tyres and they confirmed the PS4S was a huge step up in every single aspect.

I use to have PS2, now I have PS4S. Although I don't have any complaints with the PS4S as such they definitely don't seem to have the traction of the PS2s.

Nor the on the limit handling, although I appreciate the argument that you are going faster...

I changed from PS2 to PS4 on my 986S over a year ago, and certainly wouldn’t return to PS2s. The PS4 has more grip in dry and wet conditions, is much more controllable at the limit and suffers less reduction in grip in cold weather down to 3 or 4 degrees. I also found the PS4 to be cheaper. The only negative I have found is that the PS4 is noisier.
