I need to move a 3.5 ton lathe from nr. Halifax to Deal, Kent (it's around 300 miles each way). HIAB load / unload or forklift - good access etc...

Anyone have an opinion on what sort of costs I should be looking at?

TIA

I don't think you would get much change out of £1000.

FWIW, I used to get dry cleaning machines (also around 3.5 ton) moved about by hiab and cost was around £500+ Depending on mileage but, that was quite a few years ago. I could have given you a couple of names but they are based around Evesham, so of no use to you!

I'd have guessed about £1250, but if not pressed for time and you can find a machine mover going the other way you might be able to knock it back a fair bit.

I'd estimate £1250 - £1500

Might be cheaper to get some-one like Jack Nobbs (http://www.jacknobbsmachinery.co.uk/) to load it to a flat wagon in Halifax and then Kent Machine Services to offload the other end.

ok, thanks all that's very helpful - means I'm getting prices that are in the right ball park.
