BBQ for small balcony.

Have a relatively small balcony (probably 1.3m depth), so was thinking of getting a portable BBQ that can sit on a small kitchen island so it can be put away when not in use.

Are the portable BBQs any good? No I cant just get a full on Webber as it would use up too much space. Already been told this by OH, so no point suggesting it.

Can't help with advice but just wanted to say a moron friend of mine decided to use 3 x disposable barbecues directly on the wooden balcony of his 3rd floor flat, 2 weeks after he moved in, in May.

He no longer lives there and didn't get his security deposit back

Are you restricted to electric bbq on your balcony?

Some alternatives if not would the Weber GoAnywhere, available as gas or charcoal. I have the charcoal, great for its size.

There is also the Weber Q in gas. Im not endorsed by Weber! Just offering what I have seen.

Just don’t if you’re in a flat, think of all the nice combustable material around you.

Im sure a block if desireable flats went up in flames last year following a balcony bbq, in the next town.

Already checked with the landlord (who designed said balcony) and they have said its fine after they reviewed it with relevant people.

Balcony looks like this so its fine.



It will not set the tree alight, the floor will have some balcony composite covers to protect it in the bbq area, I have covered the bases.

I've got a Webber go anywhere. Have had it for years and used it out and about as well as at home and it's still serviceable.

The legs mean you can isolate it from the table so it doesn't leave burn marks.

Out of the two suggested they are just direct BBQ. No lid to do indirect cooking.

I agree the Go Anywhere or Smokey Joe. I have the smokey Joe and use it on my balcony and also handy to sling in the car for camping trips. But for storage would go for the Go Anywhere. Neither are big enough to do a whole chicken or larger cuts of meats but good for smaller cuts and direct cooking.

I've got one of these which I use regularly. I'm sure it would be fine on a balcony.

It's only really good for 2 people (3 at a push), and it works fine.

Don't know what it cost of where to buy it - it was a present from a supplier a few years back. It's surviving well.

I think it is a wonderful bit of kit.

Not quite smokeless as advertised, but very low heat and smoke compared to most.

It uses a battery to power a fun that gets the central chimney up to cooking heat in 6 minutes.

You can cook in-direct, if you buy the separate lid.

However, the main negative is the cost. Not cheap all in.

Considering I wanted a mini green egg for the location the first time, cost is not really an issue, will have a look at the lid, was that for the XL version or the normal one?

I've recently purchased a normal size Lotus and in fact used it last night.

I'm at the generally useless end of the scale and it is very easy to use, clean and store (in the provided case).

As mentioned the fan gets it up to speed very quickly and also allows you to control the temperature (so you can keep the extra sausages you always cook on there without them turning to charcoal).

Love it and the kids fight to use it.

Couple of options here, I have only read about the Cobb but I regularly use the Ceramic eggs and cant recommend them highly enough.
