996 C4S exhaust recommendations
Discussion
Recent MOT flagged that the exhaust is losing gas. It still passed but the place where I get all my porsche work done is quoting me £2,500 for original Porsche exhaust mufflers, clamps and sleeves. Then £500 for labour, then add the VAT, so £3,600. The exhaust note does sound a little louder but not like it's about to give up and start making 1 million decibels.
Questions:
1) how urgent is the escaping from the exhaust muffler? Did it have a shelf life of minutes and is about to go bang?
2) are there cheaper alternatives to original Porsche equipment to knock the price down? I don't have a Porsche Sport Exhaust button. It's just a regular exhaust.
All I want is a regular exhaust that works, similar engine sound, please be much cheaper than £3.6k. not looking to audition for Fast & Furious or go track racing. This is my daily runner.
Any suggestions?

Top gear exhausts have a good following on the 911uk forum (& they periodically do a group buy discount) and apparently guarantee their stuff as well as offering various levels of noise etc. plus uprated Cats etc. I suggest you get yourself over to the 911uk forum as there are sound clips linked int the main thread.
Dansk fall apart and warranty is meaningless. Top Gear on another level:

I've been here too, tried a pair of Miltek cans which had to come off because they were too loud..
996's come with PSE (valved) for your sport button or non valved non PSE, the default on start up is loud with PSE on, although my car has PSE, I put non valved cans on it so it is nice and quiet all the time which suits me just fine..
A pair of Porsche non valved cans is £2300 plus fitting + VAT, your choices are limited, and your quote is about right, so you will probably just have to just chew on costs I'm afraid, getting it wrong trying to take a short cut like I did leaves you with another invoice and some spare cans..!
After I fitted a pair of Porsche cans I found them a little cheaper from design 911, they are OE so maybe give them a try, but there isn't much in it for price..
