I've seen a fair few nice cars listed at prices I'd consider buying at if I were in the market, that have been listed for a long time.

My take on it is that summer isn't typically a sellers market as money goes on holidays and larger house projects and enthusiasts have usually purchased earlier in the year in preparation for enjoying them at this time of year. Early autumn usually see's a fair few TVR's change hands so perhaps then might be better when buyers know the state of their finances.

I have the idea that say the TVR fans, already have a TVR, some even 3 or so, but most people still don't know what a TVR is and or say they are kit cars and or want something reliable.

the market seems very small for TVR 'classics' some race them, so they have one, some are fans and have one or more, but there are more cars then fans, so they have to be very rare, or very cheap for what you get, I mean way undervalued to sell 'fast' .

If some had the price tickets they (say classics) went for 7<>13k say 5 or so years back, then some bought more, just because they can.
But those same sort cost now double or more, so if you not needed one and or already have one, you not buying a extra TVR, because prices went up, as a lot special classics, but most of those are known classics (known outside the TVR fanclub) ;-)

so thats a bit whats going on I have the feeling.

I'm having the same problem with my Cerb. I've not even had anyone come to view it yet. It's a really nice car and I'm sure whoever's interested would buy it if they saw it but all I seem to get are stupid offers by text or email. Luckily I don't need to sell so I'll just wait until someone genuinely interested in it comes along.

Yes, put mine up for sale, modified Chim. Put it on Carandclassic to start with and got just one caller who viewed and test drove it.. Put it on PH and no callers. After 4 weeks put it on eBay and sold it within a week (this was just last week).
There are just too many cars for sale at the moment. When I was looking to buy there were nowhere near as many for sale.

I maybe will buy a good Vixen S2-S3-S4 from a seller, if the price is low and best with V8 and LHD :-)
max 14k for one in a good condition, a view years back that was not such a big problem for that kind of money.
And ow, delivered to my house please bow

so you don't have to sell it on a website haha. ;-)

Sorry Rene your talking a load of what a cow makes and you dont drink it, sorry you have looked and commented on nearly every pre 80s cars that have come up for sale in the last 5 years either saying thats cheap or thats dear but buying nothing.
As for more cars than buyers on the early cars thats rubbish i have a list of people waiting and wanting to buy either a good pre 80s car or a project Pre 80s TVR.

The problem lies there are more bad examples out there for sale or cars that are misrepresented than really genuine good cars.
There are cars being sold as nut and bolt restorations and in some cases they have been taken apart painted and cleaned up and then put back together with most of the old parts that came off and give the illusion that they have been fully restored.

The good cars are selling and selling fast and at top prices.
In the last 12 months we have seen Vixens sell for nearly 30k and Tuscan V6s for over 40k and worth every penny however we have seen cleaned up cars that should have had full restorations being advertised for close to that when they should be lower.
There is a bum for every seat however as you really dont have any intention of buying one please dont make it look like you are.
Sorry mate.
Andrew
hahah Andrew Andrew, yes I react at least 5 years at a lot cars that came on sale, I love to give people credits for posting cars etc, so I give them thumbs up, just to appreciate they share things and to let them know that people read their ads/articles.

Also, the times that most came on sale for good prices, I had my Hartge to sell for 75k and did it later on, and was so sorry that I did not had say 15k spare for such lovely offers at those times in those say 8 years of looking, because I still had to sell my car first (maybe you did not understood that even when I told you that I guess 3 times over a period of time) So maybe you read now again ;-) still reading? oke.

After I sold my Hartge Z3, all the still then interesting cars were or gone, or almost double in price...
But hey, for you no problem perhaps, but for me that enthousiast paying double, or the lovely cars gone, is important.

And further more, I said above as a joke with some true in it, for 14k a Vixen with V8 in good state etc etc (read my text above yours.
I buy, so don't tell me what I do not, I say I buy.

Say you sell that Tuscan V8 copy of yours and bring it to me I pay you that 14k or any other good Vixen V8 roadworthy (not that race car thing from a few weeks back) So stop your whining, I do what I say on the moment I wrote it, and for now still have that money spare....so as long as I still have that, that offer is open, even if its a bit of joke offer for present times, there is still some truth in it.

Sorry mate ;-) please don't whine anymore about that or about me, you clearly don't understand me, and I'm sorry for that confusion, my English is only with simple words and sometimes help of Google translate/correct, and Internet is 'flat' but stop whining, be a man and except not all are as 'great' as you (think)
