Things to do whilst the World Cup is on
Discussion
Afternoon all,
It occurred to me that next Saturday afternoon - and whenever the semi and final are, if England make it that far - represents a great opportunity for those not interested in the football to go and see/do stuff which would normally be absolutely heaving on a summer Saturday afternoon with next to nobody there!
Any suggestions for how best to make use of this World Cup fringe benefit in London or the South East?

The gym, mine had about 3 people in it last Thursday and two of them were instructors.
Good shout - the gym I go to has been incredibly quiet since the World Cup started. Not a bad thing though, gets rid of the 'sit-on-my-phone-because-I-don't-really-want-to-be-here' type!
On Tuesday evening I went to the local park to tune my cars sound system assuming it was going be empty due to the world cup but there was a running club taking place and the carpark was rammed.
I'm heading to a car event in Dartford Saturday morning so may pop into blue water afterwards in the afternoon.

I'd suggest that even if you aren't interested in football, go to the pub and watch. If England win (which is pretty likely) you'll not experience such an atmosphere on many other occasions. Have a beer, get engrossed, and enjoy the highs of our national sport.
I've tried, but it's just so tedious! I'll watch almost any other sport out there with the exception of horse and dog racing, but football I just can't cope with. You could remove 80 minutes of the average game, and you wouldn't miss any of the action, as it's just three blokes kicking a ball to each other in the middle of a field! It's as though Football, horse racing and greyhounds are F1, and every other sport is Moto GP. How the most boring one has got all the money and glory is just beyond my understanding.
