The temperature gauge, rev counter and fuel guage (sometimes) have all gone on my 1987 525 e28. I’ve been advised to buy a whole new cluster although I’ve seen on forums that the batteries could just need replacing. Any advice/recommendations?

I found this on Autobahn Parts but no response on availability as yet:

the batteries are just soldered into place, so yes can be changed, the issue can be if they've leaked as the liquid can damage the board,
easy to rectify though and there is a place in the states that can supply boards that have done away with the batteries

Did they all go at the same time? Are you sure it’s not just a fuse?

I only ask because (from memory) I had a similar experience in an e28 M5 I owned a few years back - a new fuse solved the problem.
