Hello all

A friend of mine has an e36 m3 evo coupe which he has had a minor accident in. He needs a new front bumper and was wondering if the e36 evo bumper is the same as a m sport bumper off say a 328i sport.

I can see the splitter is different but otherwise they appear the same. He can source a m sport bumper so if they are identical then I presume fitting the splitter is an easy job?

Any help much appreciated

Regards

Keith

Pretty sure the M3 one differs from the Sport. Check Real OEM.com part numbers.

I think the only difference was that the sport bumper had plastic slats where the M3 bumper had mesh to cover the gap behind the plate area which led to different part numbers, fixings etc the same.

The slats can be replaced with mesh as I did that when I had one, no pictures of mine with the slats but the image below shows why most people do that.

My early (Oct 19950 E36 328 sport came with a factory fitted slat front valance, but it was solid between the slats rather than open - painted black. It was painted slightly textured black between the slats.

Current E36 has the M3 valance with plastic mesh. This lets more air in of course, but as I have found out recently the plastic can get holed with large stones! Luckily no damage to radiator.
Anybody know how easy it is to replace this mesh?, preferably with metal of a similar design.
On first inspection it looks like the mesh is part of the valance and I would be reluctant to buy a whole new bumper/valance.Must be a way of cutting out and attaching with glue? something in its place.

Try and make sure you get a genuine replacement OP, there are lots of cheaper imitations that may be more difficult to align correctly.
