Just dropped my 991.2 GT3 in for a wheel refurb with an OPC. I asked for the car not to be washed but thought it weird when the newly refurbished wheel had brake dust on it.

Turns out the car has done 8 miles, they say to reset TPS but that only needs the car at 15mph to reset.

I don’t mind the mileage on the car but how do I know someone hasn’t given it the beans and over-revved?

Never had this happen before, would most say it’s standard practice?

Agreed. They didn’t do the work, but said they needed to drive it to reset the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Down the end of the road and back would get up to the 15mph needed for a reset.

I’d be interest if others have had similar on a Porsche refurb, a different OPC didn’t put any mileage on when returning wheels for other cars.

An 8 mile drive at 30 mph isn't going to generate much break dust I would have thought.

Using the Car Connect App it is possible to set up a speed fence so that you can see when the car is being driven over a set speed. I set one up on my GT3 when it was at the OPC for PDI and then elsewhere having PPF wink

Good idea, I will do that next time it’s in.

I had a Tracker fitted on my GT4 (as t didn’t come with VTS) and that recorded all routes driven via GPS and speeds at regular intervals. The Porsche app is way behind.

OPC should be able to plug in PIWIS and show you the rev-ranges which includes operating hours

8 miles is excessive. The TPM sensors work stationary don't they my .1 GT3 do, brake dust is also unusual for 8 miles. I'd share your concenrs with the dealer as it would trouble me if the car wasn't run in? I am having a wheel refurb on my 991.1 right now, as I want black not platinum colour, I won't see any tell tale brake dust (PCCB) and didn't check the mileometer rolleyes
