BRAKE CALIPER REBUILD?

Have a caliper which some butcher has tried to drill a bleed nipple out and made a mess of it....I think it will need sleeving and re tapping, does anyone know of company that will do this....my usual rebuilder doesnt offer that service, cant buy another caliper at a sensible price so looking at this. TIA

A company called Fraser Brown Engineering in the far North of Scotland developed a repair kit for this very scenario, I think they cost around £60, you should be able to google them.

Good God, Godspeed? They're the last people to go to - I waited 3 very long mths to get a replacement/refurbished set of rear calipers. When they finally arrived the repaint on them is so thick the pad springs close up and the pads would not fit. Have had to feather back the paint to make work.

OP, any good local engineering company will be able to clean drill, re-tap new thread and fit a new brake bleed nipple; it's not at all difficult.

I've used these chaps to refurb my Peugeots front calipers, great service.

Its quite difficult to do them... I have done them in the past though, but in the milling machine, where I can get everything lined up.

these kits are very good, but again its not easy unless the caliper is mounted solid so you can drill the old nipple out, and tap and face off the top so the insert sits square to the hole.

Thats the same kit I mentioned, I understood from Fraser Brown that it was his idea, maybe he was just an agent.

Very easy to do. Personally I would go to the next size up bleed screw and use a stainless steel nipple if the car is yours to keep?

That reads like it's there policy on exchange items, no ? I'm sure I read something in a magazine with these guys saying repairs like this were no problem.
