Hi all,

We're looking for a new family car and been to test drive the new Duster today. It is a vast improvement on the previous model. We came away quite impressed.

We've been offered the following pcp deal, £1500 deposit with monthly payments of £156 and GFV of £6900. Is this a good deal? I've never bought a car on PCP before. I know it isn't the most popular way to buy a car around here but would appreciate any views on this deal.

Thanks.

Sorry I forgot to say, this is over a 3 year term with 8000 miles per year.

That Dacia deal works out at £6960 over the 3 years.

For similar money:

Vitara - works out at £6422 for 3 years/8k p.a. https://leasing.com/independent-brokers/total-moti...

Kia Soul - £6525 for 3 years/8k p.a. https://leasing.com/independent-brokers/total-moti...

These would include road fund licence, which the Dacia deal won't.

Thanks for the links Gareth, Interesting figures. If I knew that I definitely wouldn't keep the car then leasing would be an option but I'm not sure at the moment. I realise that doesn't make PCP a great option if i wanted to own outright though.

I had thought about the Vitara but not had a look around one yet.

Which spec have you been quoted on? What colour and how many miles?

Is it brand new or pre-registered?

It won't pre reg as they were only launched 3 weeks ago.

It is meant to be the dealers showroom car, not sure if they get pre registered or not. However, the deal would stand for a car to order as well it's just that they have that car on the spec we want arriving this week.

What is it that makes this a 'deal'? Is there a discount off list price (especially if it does transpire to be pre-reg)? Or is the interest rate better than normal?

If you are planning to buy it a the end of the 3 year PCP term as you say, unless the PCP is interest free, wouldn't you be better off buying outright with a low rate bank loan (circa 3%?) over a slightly longer term?

Sounds about right compared to the pcp offers on the Dacia website.

Interested in one of these myself. Did they give you any idea of lead times for a factory order OP?

There are cars coming through for end of August, some dealers will have their own stock which they will have already but they are selling well; our stock is already gone, all we have now are showroom cars which we can't sell until a replacement arrives; end of August.

They are fantastic cars, well worth the money, I actually think they are too cheap, they will be a big hit.

I actually agree. The prestige spec is bonkers and so much for the money. When a 1.2TCE comes along it will be brilliant.

They are a good drive, quite slow though but to be expected with 115bhp pulling that much weight around.

I was told end August early Sept for delivery on an order car.

HTP99 - That's interesting, the dealer I spoke to said I could have the car beginning of next week as it was en route to them to be their demo/showroom car. Do you think they are saying that to get the business and will then pull out and give a later date?

Shouldn’t think so. We have stock onsite for display and we can sell if we want to, we’re choosing to keep it all and sell from it.

Thanks both. As dealers, have you had any information about when the Tce or an auto will be released?

TCe is somepoint in Q1 next year but no firm date, I should image you will be looking at around £800 more then the SCe; the SCe is adequate but it's bit gutless.

I asked about an auto on the training, the response was "no immediate plans", given that the previous auto Duster was only released In May 2017, I wouldn't hold your breath!

We bought a Duster about 6 months ago. Considered PCP but in the end got a bank loan and bought outright. Great cars for the money.
