In the (comfortably warm) office, the secretaries turn the air-con on complaining that the room is too hot, only to turn it off a few minutes later, citing that it's too cold. Being the only gentleman in the office, I am on my own in suffering this temperature-centric tyranny as all the ladies are happy with this volatile state of affairs (5F v 1M).

Why do ladies do this?

Having noticed similar climate-related issues across PH with girlfriends / wives adjusting the climate control / thermostat only to turn it down later, it seems to be endemic in female homo sapiens. Why not find a temperature you are comfortable with (quickly!) and stick with it rather than constantly fiddling and making male homo sapiens existences a thermological nightmare?

They're just different...it's as simple as that. Try and use logic and common sense to understand it and you will blow your mind smile

In a similar vein, setting it to 35 thinking it will warm up any quicker than raising it just 2 to 24 degrees, or setting it 10 when it's a bit too warm in the mistaken belief it will get colder quicker.

I always set it to sixteen in American hotel rooms after a big meal and booze as have walked back in a humid 30 degrees plus, then go to bed only to wake thinking I am firstly, still on the plane by the low drone, then on Hoth due tot he temperature at 4am.

My other half doesn't understand the concept of adjustment by increment.

Take the car air-con for example, she get's in the car when it's hot, puts the air-con control to maximum cooling and opens the window full her side.

When the car is cold, she puts the heater on maximum temp and fan speed and opens her window because it gets stuffy.

I daren't say anything nowadays, I still remember the black eye and swollen lip from a few years back.

I also find that you can tell when someone doesn’t know anything about cars when they leave the fan in the “off” position and only turn it on to de-mist the windows or give a burst of hot or cold. You end up sitting in your own breath. It’s gross.

I refer you to the work of Dr Fanger and ASHRAE and the predicted mean vote comfort scale etc. I had to study this stuff and you can predict for a given temperature the number of people who will say it’s to hot, to cold, just right. The target is to annoy the minimum number. One building we had lady who complained her office was cold she had brought a fan heater in so the carefully designed air conditioning system blew cold air at her, so she turned the heater up, rinse and repeat. Once heater was removed suddenly her office was ok! I’m going cave man on this, woman want direct visible heat source (large fire) otherwise it isn’t warm.

Google how to lock ac control for the make and model...

Even better if a set of control is put in not connected to anything....

My brother. Turns it off and as soon as it steams up turns it to full and complains that there is something wrong with the car. I proved to him that leaving it blowing keeps it unfoggy but he doesn’t believe it

He’s also no longer allowed to borrow my car as I don’t like the breathy fog he leaves in it because he won’t keep any ventilation going

On my phone, the title of this thread reads "Ladies who constantly fiddle with the cli..."

I'm not proud of opening it, but my disappointment outweighs my guilt.

Why am I not surprised to see Radhika Sanghani? Clickbait and listicles seem to be her forte.
