Well the first thing I would do, if I were considering committing a large-scale customs scam, would be to not broadcast my plans for comment and open criticism on a public website. I fear that a career as an international criminal mastermind maybe something you want to reconsider.

Yes - advertising a proposed fraud on a public forum is not too smart.

Meh.

I did think that, but my question still remains unanswered.

I'm not quite sure what you want us to say.

You're considering defrauding HMRC by falsifying a paper trail. I'm pretty sure you're not the first person to have thought of doing this, and I'm pretty sure that the customs people have seen every trick in the book. Yes, you might get away with it. You might even get away with it a few times. But there's every chance that you'll get caught and quite likely sent to jail.

Apart from that - sure, great idea. Fill your boots. Let us know how it goes.

For each invoice, there has to be a corresponding payment. That's the accounting that all companies A, B and C have to hold.

So, starting at the beginning, how do companies A1-10 get paid their ten grand?

I'm not sure how you're intending to remove the invoices if they're just going to a warehouse.

I'd imagine the warehousing/logistics company wouldn't be too keen in helping you with a fraudulent transaction given there's not really much benefit to them, and plenty of risk.

Even if you did get away with it the first time, I suspect you'd soon be caught. My company frequently imports stuff (legally, I might add), and there's still plenty of holdups from time to time, despite being fastidious with the paperwork.

Often, hold ups are luck of the draw depending upon the agent who handles the import. Do you really want to risk that?

In short, bad idea even if you do ignore the morality issues like you have mentioned. If there was an easy, legal, and effective way of doing this, don't you think plenty of companies would already do it?

PS Given that the US is on the verge of commencing a series of trade wars, it would seem even more inadvisable.

Bank transfer or the use of companies such as Transferwise.
So you're going to pay ten grand to A1-10 *and* another seven grand to C?

You want us to agree that it's a good idea?

Why not ask us if it is a good idea to mug a pensioner?

Well obviously, that depends on the pensioner. Some of them are pretty handy you know.

No Eric babes,

I wanted you to say “It won’t work because of X Y and Z”. I will then say “thanks, you’re totes right”. We’d then end the thread and i’d go back to dreaming about other ways in which to become rich.

In regards to mugging a pensioner, I would safe it’s statistically safer than mugging a teen/adult.

Thanks for the tip.

Well hopefully not, since C wouldn’t be a real company.

I really don’t know. It was just a thought in my head. I hadn’t worked out the logistics of it all. I also have never imported/exported before so don’t really know the documentation that customs etc ask for.
If you've never done import/export before, I strongly suggest not starting out by doing it either illegally or operating in a grey area. When this inevitably gets flagged, how would you ever be able to handle the situation? There's a high chance it would prove an expensive mistake.

Get some experience before coming up with elaborate plans. There are thousands upon thousands of companies working in import/export across the world. It seems unlikely you're going to be the one to come up with a new loophole they haven't figured out. Sorry to be blunt, but that's the harsh reality.

If you're really keen on finding a streamlined way of doing it, and you're going to be dealing in reasonable values, setup a meeting with a freight forwarding company and see what services they can offer to help you.

The fact that you were even contemplating such a dopey and illegal scheme speaks volumes about where you stand on the basic issue of "right and wrong". As far as I'm concerned, planning on stealing is the same whether it is defrauding HMRC (i.e. other taxpayers) or mugging someone.

Just so you know where I stand on the matter Crystal clear.

I’ll happily do a “2 do 1” in the bin for 6 figures.
You do know that they recover your ill gotten gains when you're convicted, right? Sell your houses, crush your cars?

Based on current evidence, I strongly doubt that you're clever enough to hide money from the taxman anyway.

That's what I suspected. Unfortunately for you, the law of the land thinks otherwise.
